I have a 52 in projection RCA TV with surround system home entertainment that was already plugged in to the wall jack and a internet company decided to put a extra 110 volts in to it. I need to find out how to fix it. Or replace it. I have gotten a estimate and they told me the circuit board is burnt. The internet company insurance said they would replace it but now they want another estimate on the TV and entertainment center. i have already paid 300.00 for 2 estimates, What would this cost to fix, both company's have told me its not worth to fix it would cost more to repair.

I HAVE SONY WEGA 60". lamp light in frot blinks and TV went dark.I presume I need to replace lamp. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Model number indicated is a 42 inch, not a 60 inch but lamp should be same for both.

The entire bezel (plate of plastic) under the screen has to be removed; you should find on the back on either side a black plastic thumb wheel that can be backed out (it will not come out but just back out until free).

With the 2 completely loose grasp the plate from the bottom right and pull on it from right to left; it is held in with several plastic pegs and will resist being removed; pull from the bottom as it is also secured at the top with large tabs that engage just under the screen.

The idea is to get it free all the way across the bottom and then lift up on the plate and pull it down and away.

Have the set off and unplugged at this point.

The lamp door will be easy to see and is marked. Usually just one screw and with the set off/unplugged the lamp cartridge is secured with 2 Allen bolts (replacement lamps come with a tool).

The lamp assembly has a handle and with the two bolts backed loose you grasp the built in handle and slide the lamp cartridge out and away.

Average life on the lamp is 2,000 hours.

There are two ways to buy the lamp----Google the model number and use the word lamp after it.

Some sites sell a generic "bulb"; you have to dismantle the cartridge and replace the bulb---I do not suggest this as generic lamps do not in most cases have a good record of long life.

Not to mention if you get a cartridge unit you just have to install it and lock the bolts back.

It is very important when you install it you do not touch the face of the lamp with your hand as oil on you hand can damage the lamp.

Also, it is important the two pin plug that connects the lamp inside the set engage perfectly.

These lamps are considered to be "customer replaceable" but you need to do it right.

Please let me know if you have questions as I am here to help you.

The blue will not converge, how can I manually do it? The blue appears to be showing bottom left corner below the screen, like it got moved.

I had the same problem but it wouldn't converge on the whole right side of the screen. I fixed my problem by taking off the speaker cover, removing the 3 allen 7/64" screws from the front of the bottom of the button pannel, then removing the 4 scew from the back of the pannel (2 on each side), and the button pannel should drop down. With the power on I cleaned the 3 projection lenses with many qtips dipped in alcohol. I left the TV on so I could see if there was any streaking on the lenses (streaking means it is still dirty). Once they were all clean and I put the button pannel back on, I went to the menu and ran the autoconvergence function. Now my picture is so clean. Good Luck.

Why not remove the screen assy and see if you can clean it?

Remove the speaker grill assy and remove the screws along the bottom edge of the screen assy. Pull the screen assy up and off and lay it on a clean sheet with the outside of the screen assy face down. Remove the screws that fasten the screen bracket assys in place and remove the screen brackets.

Your TV actually has either 2 or 3 screens. You can carefully lift them off the screen frame. Separate them and clean them using a solution of luke warm water and a few drops of dish washing liquid on a soft cloth towel. Wipe immediately with a dry towel. ( be sure to note the order the screens are in and keep the smae side of each screen as it was originally. By the way, replacing the screens is expensive. The 2 that do the work, the lenticular screen and the fresnel lens can cost up to $300 a piece, the third, a clear, protective screen can cost $100-150.
