Question about Xerox WorkCentre XD125F All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Xerox xd125f Hi, the copier is squeaking and the print is coming out with smudges. Is there a way to lubricate it? The fuser gear turns real hard. The squeaking is coming from that end. If it is something that needs to be replaced or lubricated, please send instructions or point me to a website that has them. appreciate an email to timothee400@yahoo.com

Most likely you need to replace the fuser assembly itself.
You can order it piece by piece, but you would have the cost of a heat roller, perssure roller, thermistor, gear and bushings. And that prices out more then a new fuser itself.
They can be purchased for the 200-230 dollar range.
If thats the route you want to take let me know. I can write out the instructions for replacement. It's not to hard to do.

Chances are the fuser is not working correctly. How warm is the paper as soon as it leaves the printer? It should be quite warm. The fuser heats the toner and 'fuses' it to the paper. If the fuser does not get hot enough, then the toner which is a powder smudges on the paper. Also not setting the correct paper type for a tray will also cause the toner to smudge as the printer adjusts the temperature based on the type of paper selected.

Copies are coming out with a dark horizontal lines and printer is making a rather loud sound when paper is in printing process.

Two things that can cause print quality issues and noise.
1. The toner cartridge can cause lines and sometimes can make a squeaking noise.
2. The fuser can cause streaking and smudges on the prints and can cause a grinding noise if the drive gear is worn or the bushings are worn.

Xerox Phaser 4510 - While printing it makes a squeaking noise

One of two things. The fuser bearings get noisy in those.
Or there are several small hard plastic rollers on steel shafts or even mounted on springs they they can get very noisy.

HP LJ P2015DN making noise/squeaking

Hi,
As you mentioned that the printer makes loud grinding noise or squeaking when page comes out than i feel this is the noise coming out due to faulty fuser.
I want to be sure so please open the rear bin and try to print if still noise comes than i m sure it is fuser.
If there are smudges on the printed page or if some film coating is coming out with printed page than fuser roller are physically damage.
However in this case i assume fuser is faulty.
If there opening the rear bin noise goes off than top output rollers are faulty.

Thanks and Regards

What you can try is just replacing the fuser drive gear and the bushings on the heat roller.
That small tube your relating to is the heat roller. The plastic like busings are really tight not allowing it to move freely.
Not the easiest fuser to rebuild to be honest. You will also want some high temperature lubricant to use on those bushings and also on the pressure roll shaft to make that roller run smoother.
Clean it well and be sure it is running free.
You need to look at the heat roll and presure roller carefully to check for wear and grooves. If they are worn, you will be better off replacing the fuser then trying to rebuild it.
I will provide you the link to an excellent parts source, click on parts then the scroll down tot the XD125, They have about everything you want for that fuser.
If you call ask for Britt..

Paper path jams...

The most likely problem in that is a bad fuser roller gear.
Most likely there are a couple of teeth broken off the gear.
You have to remove the back cover, which also requires the removal of 2 screws on the top of the machine.
REMOVE THE POWER FIRST.
Then there are two plugs to remove, looking on the back they are lower left. 2 white connectors
Open the right side drawer, remove 2 silver screws holding in the fuser. It will say Caution Heated Surfaces. one silver screw on each side.
Pull it straight back, slowly and examine the gear on the right side of the fuser.
You may just fine an accordion folded piece of paper in there under one of the fingers. But that gear is prone to breaking teeth off.

Low Fuser Temperature. Probably a blown heat lamp try reseting the H code Press CLEAR, EXPOSURE MODE, CLEAR, EXPOSURE MODE. The display should go blank. Then enter 14 with the copy count keys and press START. If the machine does not turn off and back on by itself - then turn it Off and back on. See if the H code comes back. Tim
