It needs a driver, install from the Asus software and driver disc, or download it from http://support.asus.com/

Hello Friend,
Sound Card Problem Check out Following..

  • go to Start, Control Panel, System, click on the Hardware tab, and double click on Device Manager.
  • In the Device Manager Window, expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers heading by clicking on the plus sign next to the label. If you see a yellow circle with an exclamation mark on a subheading that has any reference to "audio", the sound card has some sort of issue.
  • If the Device Manager shows a heading that says "Other Devices" with a big yellow question mark and a reference to audio, sound card, or the name of the sound card, then there may be a problem with the sound card
  • You have to Use Proper Driver CD for Installation.
If not Detecting Your Driver Do Following...
  • Turnoff PC and Open Cabin
  • Try another Slots if Using Extra Sound Card
  • In device Manager
  • Right Click on Sound,Video game Controllers
  • Click on Scan for Hardware Changes
  • if hardware Detected Use Proper Driver CD/File to Install Software for Device(Chose Install from a list/Specific Locationif you have saved file in Specified Folder ; Use Install Software Automatically if you have Driver CD inserted)
  • IF NOT DETECTED hardware might be Damaged(Check it in Other PC for Working)

I forgot my soundcard name and now i lost the cd to instal it and now the sound card is broken. now i want to ask how i detect my soundcard name?

If it isn't a generic sond card, it is invariably printed on the soundcard itself. Find it, and go online and do a search for the drivers. If you have a generic one, you might want to buy an inexpensive name brand one. They offer better compatibility with the many player codecs out there. Good luck.

Hi, When I click Start/Run/dxdiag on my windows screen, I get this message in a window called DxDiag Error: "Error: Problem getting extra sound info, result code = 0x80070057 (Invalid Argument(s))"....

You can go to device manager and uninstall your sound card from there, To open device manager Right click Mycomputer>Properties>Hardware tab> Device manager and once you're there look for the Asus Xonar D2X and then right click on it and click uninstall and after that restart the computer and that should correct the problem......

No sound card detected even though I can hear CDs from PC

first check that you are having no problems with your soundcard, go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager and see if there is a yellow exclamtion mark next to the soundcard.. If there is then try updating the drivers for it, or uninstalling it by right clicking it and choose uninstall then reboot the computer, the soundcard will be picked up as new hardware and should be installed again. Before you do this though you need to be sure that you have a pci soundcard actually installed and not an onboard chipset soundcard. If you have an onboard soundcard then it may not be good enough for games to be played. A lot of games require a minimum type of soundcard. Check to see what you have. Go to control panel as explained and write down the model number of your soundcard. Then check the minimum requirements for the game you are trying to play.

I didn't hear any sound from my pc.I use dell 845 motherboard please suggest me appropriate link to get sound card drivers

first of all put on a media clip on your media player to see if audio device is detected, if it is detected carefully push in your mini jack for the speaker into the out for your soundcard and sound will surely come out but if the audio device is not detected, install another sound card.

Soundcard in XP

Try manually installing it by using the Add New Hardware wizard. Make sure all other soundcard(s) are deleted from Device Manager first, though. Another thing you can try- Boot into Safe Mode, open Device Manager, remove/delete any and all instances of sound card hardware you find, reboot and see if Windows re-detects.
