Refrigerator making noise like ball bouncing

My refrigerator makes a noise periodically that sounds like a ping pong ball bouncing 3 times. It seems to happen when the motor stops after it has been running to cool it down. This has been going on for some time and the unit works fine otherwise. Should I be concerned?

No. This is not a great deal. Your compressor is switching off at times which makes the sound, but it is a power saving technique adopted by the manufacturer. It is certainly not a problem.

This happens with my Whirlpool (Imperial Series) refrigerator. It's always because something is pushig the lever on the icemaker down. I just move whatever is pushing the lever down away and the noise stops right away.

Right before the refrigerator starts running, the unit vibrates, makes a clicking noise, and then a series of loud banging noises that sound like hitting a ping pong ball against a table. Then it gets...

This is just a WAG but it doesn't sound like a compressor problem to me. The clicking could be the start relay, which could be a combination of either the start relay or start capacitor.

The vibration and banging is probably the shock mounts that the compressor are mounted to the cabinet frame with. Although rare, if the screws come loose the compressor will slowly destroy the rubber grommet shock mounts. If you are missing even one grommet (need four) then it will vibrate and rattle. If two screws are loose then it will allow it to vibrate and rattle also.

All bets are off if the compressor is very hot to the touch! Then it probably is the compressor.

Refrigerator makes a ping pong ball noise when the fridge is moved? What is up with that? there is nothing in the manual about this issue. My refrigerator is only been in my house for 48 hours. Should I be...

Hi my name is Sean, No you should not be concerned, but should try to not shake the refrigerator too much, the sound your hearing is the piston in the compressor hitting the side of the compressor housing. Its attached to springs inside and so when the refrigerator is moved it will move back and forth and hit the side of the compressor. Just make sure you dont move it while the compressor is running could damage the piston.

How do i restore the surface of my outdoor ping pong table

Hi there,

Use painters tape to cover the white lines of your table tennis table.

Use sandpaper (150grit) to smooth the surface. This will level any bumps or scratches. Fill deep cracks with wood filler, let it dry and sand the table again.
Make sure that the table is clean before you begin the painting procedure.

Use chalkboard spray paint about 8 inches away from the table and spray each side. Allow 8 hours for the paint to dry then repeat with another coat. Next day, repeat the process so you have 3 layers of paint. Chalkboard spray paint helps the ball bounce to the correct height and speed.

Remove the painters tape after the last coat and allow the table to dry for at least 24 hours.
Hope this helps, vote me if so :)

Ice maker does not make ice

Hello, Ice makers are very simple machines and only have 2 components. The first is the ice maker located inside the freezer, The second is the dual valve located behind the refridgerator behind the panel at the rear. One valve is for the ice maker, the other is for the water dispenser. When one of these components go bad the result is no ice. There is a very simple way for the layman to figure out where your problem lay. If you have a ping pong ball or shot glass place it on the icemaker and wait 12 hours, if the ping pong ball falls into the ice try the ice maker is good and you need to replace the inlet valve...if the ping pong ball stays in place it means the ice maker is bad and you should replace this. If you have any other questions regarding this problem please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!! Mike

Sounds like a ping pong ball bouncing when it turns on

I am having the same problem. I don't know if it's normal or what. Just got the fridge about a month ago. Maytag french door freezer on bottom. Every so often--I guess when it comes on like you say, it really does sound like a bouncy ball or ping pong ball...
