The flash on my camera won't work. It's only a few months old and has only been used a few times. I can't take pictures indoors at all. Is there any way to solve this problem?

My flash has also just stopped working and my camera is just three months old! This is unexceptable whether they will fix it for free or not.

about a year and 2 mos on the finepix z5 flash stoped working! this sucks considering we hardly used the camera. I have a minolta z6 that has done well over 1000 pics and it is great just a little big so got this finepix z5 and it has done less than 500 pics and it is already done. no flash. basically an outside daylight camera now. until i can find some one to fix it. any body know were to get a flash for this ?

I would say we got about 6 months out of ours! How do you reset it?

  • jo_massey Nov 22, 2008

I have had the same problem. Had the camera 8 months and the flash has just stopped working. I am really disappointed about this and hope there is a cheap (free hopefully) way of getting this fixed.

I have a FujiFilm FinePix Z5 fd - had it for about 5 months, flash has stopped working.

    Anybody got a fix?

If no fix then does anyone have an email address for FujiFilm so I can arrange to send it back to them under warranty?

    Thanks

    Aled

Repairing the flash is probably too difficult for most people as a DIY solution. Professional repair could be quite pricey. I would suggest buying the same model on eBay but one with a broken screen, they're quite common. Buy as carefully as you can, most sellers will admit to additional faults and even claim a working unit. Don't pay more than £10 plus postage, and swap-out your screen. This is an easy DIY project. You will need a small tri-blade screwdriver and a small pozi, but takes less than 10mins with care. Further info if required. Paddywack.

The problem is with either the flash unit, or the flash transformer. Unfortunately the only way to fix this, is to take it to a service center.

SOURCE: My finepix z5 by fuji flash quit working how can i

I had the exact same problem; my camera wouldn't turn on when unplugged from the wall, and wasn't charging, and I thought that it was broken.
It turned out that I actually had the battery in the wrong way around (embarrassing for a technician really :| ) ; you have to flip the battery so the left is now the right side and vice versa. NOT top to bottom, just a flip on it's Y axis (if it were standing with the shortest face as a base).

How can i connect finepix z5 to the laptop to transfer photos

You will need a cable that connects the camera to USB port on the laptop.Usually the jack (or port) on the camera is covered by a piece of rubber.

If you cannot find a cable, remove the memory card and fix it to a card reader. Fix the card reader to the computer. Then you can use the memory card like a flash drive.

Flash

My solution would be to obtain a faulty Z5 with only a broken screen from eBay. Most sellers are pretty up front with detail. Swapping -out the screen is a 10min DIY job with a steady hand, a small tri-blade and small pozi. Detail can be made available. A clean camera is essential as it's replacing yours. The flash replacement is possible but far more difficult.

I have a Finepix Z5 but the screen wont go on, the camera sounds like it is working when you turn it on but the screen stays black. The flash works when you take a picture.

You may have already tried this, but try pushing the button that says "DISP" on it. If this doesn't work, I would say that it needs to be repaired.

Fujifilm finepix z5

when I slide the camera to turn it on, the camera turns on BUT the monitor doesn't.  I can hear the camera as I take pictures, and zoom in/out (all beep sounds work) but I can't see my pictures because the LCD doesn't turn on.
