When you banding vertical do you mean Across paper feed direction OR With paper feed direction?
If its across the feed direction the chances are thje issue remains with the individual printhead, Print out a quality maintenance print to find which Printhead is not working as well as wanted, then replace ( or clean using the plotters control panel under image maintenance.
Errors along the feed direction can be down to Software/ Main Pca /

Intermittent problem a vertical red band (6-inch wide) appears on the monitor can last from minutes to hours before disappearing; then will reappear hours, days, or even weeks later.

Welcome to FixYa,

One of the top reasons for causing these "lines" running across the screen are :
  1. Corrupted video driver
  2. Changes in hardware configuration (display)
  3. Monitor issue (hardware)
In order to determine if it's hardware/software issue, all you need to do is to boot to BIOS and check if the problem replicates. Depending on system, you can go to the BIOS screen by tapping "F2" or "DEL" key repeatedly as soon as you turn on the computer until you see a different screen.

If the problem is present while in BIOS, then definitely the monitor needs to be repaired by an authorized repair center. Otherwise, video driver update or Operating system re-install can resolve this problem.

I certainly hope this helps,

Thank you for using FixYa.

My toshiba satellite has a wide colored band showing. I can adjust the monitor back and forth and most of it goes away.. any solutions ?

HI there,

A soon as you can, connect the laptop to an external monitor and switch to that monitor when connected by holding down the "fn" key and pressing F5. If the external monitor displays normally with no colored band, then your laptop's screen needs to be replaced.

If the same colored band appears on the external monitor, it means that your video chip/controller on the motherboard is about to fail, at which point the screen will go black and stay that way. In this scenario, you need to have the chip on the motherboard replaced or the motherboard itself.

Here's hoping your laptop is under warranty still. If it's not, go to eBay and type "Toshiba Laptop Motherboard Repair" in the search window. Hopefully, you can get a flat rate there of $125 to $175 for the repair.

Best of luck to you.

Monitor displays wide vertical stripes/bands

That is the symptom of failed T-CON board (part of the LCD panel assembly, new panel will be needed), you can try reseating the ribbon connector on the LCD panel first.
This what T-CON board looks like:

I have a 2inch wide band down middle of screen on

1) Have you installed new drivers or software or drivers? If so, remove them and restart the computer.
2) Try applying pressure with your fingers on top of the screen. If the band dissapears or dimishes, you may have a broken screen and it will need to be replaced.

Vertical Lines in Monitor

If the lines are only on your laptop screen, it is generally the display IC on the LCD panel.

When plugged into an external monitor and you still see the lines, it is the video memory on your laptop.

Wide vertical black and white bands

Hi, You may want to try and unplugging the power and video connectors of the Dell monitor. Check for anything out of the ordinary with the AC plug and the video connector. If none, plug them back in making sure that they are snug and fitted properly. If problem persist, see if it is possible to rotate the way the AC plug is connected to the mains (sometimes this works and can be done if you are not using 3-prong or the uneven 2-prong AC plug. Sometimes, this can also be done on the other end of the AC plug). Check your docking station (though unlikely but possibly). If still a no go and your laptop works ok, then your external monitor needs some looking at. This would involve circuit analysis and component level repair. Perhaps your best bet is to have a qualified professional take a look at it. Good luck and pls post back how things turn up or if you need further information. Kind regards.
