I'm on Skype, and the person I'm talking to cannot hear me. They can hear feedback sounds from their computer and their voice, but can't hear me talk. This a Toshiba with a built in video camera and microphone.

The problem seems to be with your friend's setup, and possibly yours. Try adjusting mic levels and volume levels to where they don't interfere with each other. Ex.--you talk , they hear you at a volume that is too loud and it gets into their mic, creating a loop....feedback. You do the same too. Trial and error. Hope this is helpful.

Noise when talking on skype

When using services like Skype or VoipBuster the audio is compressed. Depending on the quality of the internet connection the audio quality will be different. If you or the person on the other side of the line has a bad internet or bad WiFi connection, the compression of the audio will be much stronger, resulting in a worse audio quality.

Another problem that occurs many times is an audio feedback. If you, or the person you're talking to uses a microphone and computer speakers, the audio coming out of the computer speakers can be captured by the microphone and be amplified again. It forms a feedback loop and creates an echo. The best thing to do is that you both use a good quality headset instead of putting the audio over computer or iPad speakers.

For your iPad, you can buy the Apple EarPods. They are affordable and contain a microphone to make Skype calls with your iPad.

You own a iPad, which is a device of high quality. If the person you're talking to has a crappy phone or bad hardware, the quality will be bad. The advice then is that that person buys a device that has a higher quality than he or she is using now.

I hope my advise will solve your problem.

Skype microphone does not work

You need to check your audio (sometimes called Sound on some systems) settings (under control panel on Windows or Settings on Mac).

Under input (or sometimes called sound recording), make sure the headset you are using is selected.

You might also try using the headset with another program to see if it will record your voice. (Audacity is free http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. You can download it and try recording on it.)

If it still doesn't work, here is a page on Skype that has a Microsoft tool you can try - https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA897/why-can-t-the-other-person-hear-me

SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM
If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.
To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

Cannot hear my voice in microphone

These instructions are for Skype 4.2 for Windows or below. Before continuing, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version. For Skype 5.0 and above, refer to these instructions. If you're not sure which version of Skype you're using, it's easy to find out.
If the person you are talking to in a Skype-to-Skype call cannot hear you there are a number of steps you can take in order to help you set up your system correctly so that others can hear you.

Try calling Echo123. If you can hear your own recorded voice then your playback device (headphones, speakers, etc) and microphone are set up correctly and the problem might stem from low internet bandwidth, or that the person you are calling has not set up their sound devices properly.
If you cannot hear your own voice in Echo123 check that your microphone is on.

Test Echo123 again to see if the microphone now works..

THANKS.
If none of these steps work you might need to adjust your computers sound setup. Have a look at our Sounds Setup Guide.

HP laptops built in mic sound is messed up.

Check the windows audio settings from the bottom right , right click , select adjust audio properties , and make sure your microphone is set to it's highest levels , the screech can be caused by feedback so turning down your speakers may help with this. Skype also has audio configuration settings of their own , check the audio settings on skype and configure as required , doesn't sound like a hardware fault tbh

Unable to hear own voice via microphone, I can hear sound

For you to comunicate through Skype, you don't normally need to hear your voice when you talk. But if you want to you can.

Try to double click your speaker icon from the lower right side of your screen ( where you can find the system clock). A window will open and will show you several volume controls. From that window click the File and go to properties. From there put a check on the box beside the microphone. click Apply and Ok. Click the File menu again and this time put click Advance Controls. A clickable Advance menu will come out at the bottom of your Mic Volume control. Click it and enable the Mic Boost. Click Ok and then uncheck the mute box from the Mixer Window. You should be able to hear your voice or a strong feedback from your speakers.

Hope this Helps.
If it does, Please vote. Thanks!
