You are at the right place here.
First we need to find out if the porblem is in the monitor or in the PC sound card.
Try feeding the monitor with sound output of MP3 player or iPOD. If you do get sound, then you will need to look at the PC sound if the correct driver is installed properly.
If you do not get the sound from the monitor, then we will need to open it up and do some electronics troubleshooting down to components level which I am not sure if you will want to get that far or not.
So please post back after verifying with MP3 player and let us know what happen.

Does the moniotr have the headphone jack to plug the headphone in. If you do not get sound at the headphone, at that point you will have to open up the monitor and troubleshoot it to component level. I do not know what kind of tools and knowledge you may have to do electronics repair. please post back. If you take it to the shop, it may cost you $50 and up, I would spend the money on a good Powered PC speakers instead, the built-in speakers are very poor for music listening, not better than transistor AM radio.

The built-in speakers no longer work. The icons register volume changes, but there is absolutely no sound at all.

You need to feed it with another sound source such as a MP3 player to see if it works, if it does, then you PC sound card/drivers/software/setup may be the problem. If it is the monitor, then it can be the power amplifier IC which is not worth repairing, you will be better off spending money on a good set of powered PC speakers instead that will give you much better sound than the monitor's speakers.

AOC LCD monitor black out..Please help? I'm having some problems with my monitor, from time to time my monitor just blacks out, the whole screen turns black, but the computer is still on....and i'm forced...

Sounds like bad video card drivers..Try updating the drivers from the manufacturer's website. Give us the details of your video card/ PC.

Or it could be monitor related. Open the monitor and check the power supply. Make sure there are no bad capacitors inside. If you find any replace them with new ones with same number or bigger capacity,

No inlet on my computer for my X223W LCD Monitors audio cord.

Is the monitor supplied with inbuilt speakers..? Most monitors no longer have inbuilt speakers and this is why there is no place to connect the audio cable. You will have to purchase a set of external speakers and connect these to the audio output of your system.

I have a Sceptre X7G Komodo II 17" LCD monitor/built-in speakers

You would need to connect the speakers to your computer. There should be a little jack on the back of the monitor marked audio. This will need to be connected to your soundcard jack for front speakers. Once this cable is connected you should have sound from your speakers. Hope this helps.

Try the troubleshooting procedure on the Dell website:

If the monitor still doesn't work, then it has probably failed and will need to be replaced.
