Hello,

this means the lens (laser) of your DVD drive is weak ad that's why it will not open those discs that it open before.

You need to get another drive to solve the problem.

Good luck.

Lost the CD for NexxTech External Hard Drive Enclosure

Try the following
Is your external HD (Seagate + Enclosure) being seen by your computers USB system ? When you connect it, is there any action at the bottom right of your screen ? Any messages saying 'New hardware found' ?
If you get this, or even if you don't, try My Computer > right click > management. Click on Disk Management in the new window that opens. The window will change or a new one will open (I can't remember). You might see, in addition to your internal (system) HD, an your floppy, an you CD/DVD, another disk which is marked a unallocated or uninitialized. Right click on that [Do not select you system disk or any disk which may contain data by mistake] ; a menu should come down which may have the choice 'New Partition' which brings up a windows Wizard, Go through that, selecting the defaults if uncertain, ending with clicking on finish. Your disk should now begin formatting - it may take some time depending on how big your disk is. Do not select your system disk by accident. When this is finished your disk will show up in Windows File Explorer. This is the outline for Windows XP, but I think other versions od Windows offer a similar facility.
If this fails, try a different jumper select on your (Seagate) disk; I do not know what the correct jumper setting is.

From the Desktop, click on the Computer Icon to open the "Hard Drives (window)," next find the Hard Disk Drive (1), this is the "Primary" (C:) Drive. 2. Next, in the Devices with Removable Storage (1)below is the "Secondary" Drive, this will be the (CD or DVD Drives (D:), for "External Drives" the drives locations will be (E: or F:). 3. "If the CD, or DVD Drive is present in this area?" Right click to open, select the Properties "icon" the window opens; in the "All disk drives" (block), select, and "highlight" the CD or DVD Drive, next click on the Propertie's button below! 4. In the Device Status (block), see: if the device is "working properly?" Next, click on the Drives button, select to "Update Drivers." Note: The computer screen may "blink' (3-5 times), this means the update has taken place, Click on the "Apply and OK buttons, to finish. "You may be ask to "Restart the computer, if not? Restart the computer." *The "Second" area is the "All Programs" in the Start Menu, scroll to find: Media Disk Player. Select to open, click on "Setup, and Install." Follow all instruction carefully! *The "Third" area is in the Control Panel from the Start Menu; find in the (right pane). I bought a external hard drive and want to backup my dvd's on it. What do I need in order to do this?

All you need is a good working DVD ROM and a 2.0 usb port.

Plug in your hard drive to the usb port.
It should install and be ready to use in a few minutes.
    Insert your DVD's
Open My Computer and open your dvd disk (right click on the icon and choose open)
Open My Computer again but this time open your newly inserted hard drive (there will be an icon naming the drive)
Now, just use copy / paste from the dvd to the hard drive (you may have to create folders on the hdd to keep it organized)

    Hope this helps.

Local disk error WD My Passport 250GB

Do you connect & disconnect the drive according to WD's recommendations here? Try another cable. (If yours was wearing out, that might explain why it only connected some times.) Try another usb port. Check the power supply (another receptacle) Unplug other usb devices from the system.
    See this article. Good luck!

DVD HO1 error, and tray is jammed - how do i change the mode to External Port (iPod)?

It means that there's a misaligned disk inside. You need to

    1. Unplug it and shake it side-to-side.
    2. Then turn it on and press the open/close.
    3. If it doesn't open, goto step 1.
    4. When it opens, get the disks out, use disk exchange to try to get them all out.
    5. Turn it off, unplug it, shake it again and make sure that there isn't another loose disk, if there is, then open it and get it out.

This is a known flaw in certain Panasonic DVD changers. Good luck

Pc will not open any disks, software etc

Sounds like you might have an issue with the hardware. I had a similar issue about a year ago. turned out it was just by chance that I lost the DVD drive after I loaded a new software package for DVD movies. So check to make sure your DVD will play any disk and let me know what you find.
