Question about Canon PIXMA mini320 Photo Printer

Open Question

My printer is not laying any ink at all. I have deep cleaned, cleaned the roller, cleaned the bottom plate, everything. The ink cartridge is new but I haven't printed in a few weeks. What's wrong ? One of the chrome bars on the inside looks like its coated with "nonstick tephlon" looking stuff. Is that supposed to be there?

SOURCE: New ink cartridge won't work.

Guys I had this problem with black ink. It appears that the internal print head ports were clogged with ink. Try removing the print head and washing it in alcohol- when I did this i had clumps of congealed ink coming out of the tiny ports. The print head has two small screws underneath that I also removed and cleaned the ports inside by use of a syringe and alcohol. After I put the print head back together, dried it and ran an auto alignment - it all seems good now.

SOURCE: Canon i960 printer won't print in blue

Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!

SOURCE: Canon i560 printer. New ink cartridge. the page

This error is one of the most annoying issue. I don't mean to disappoint you, but I am only telling you the truth and in most cases, the machine needs serviced. You have only two option to try, but I can't guarantee you, honestly..

While the printer shows the error message, keep tapping the cancel/resume button and see the if this clears the message or not.

The other option is "clean the printhead", remove the print head unit from the printer and dip it in a bowl of hot water. You need not to dip the unit completely, but submerge the nozzles so that clogged ink will be cleared, wave it or use a soft brush to help cleaning the nozzles. After it's cleaned and dried, reinstall the unit and check again.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good luck
Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Cannon i550 printer that does not print from the yellow port. Have done alignment, clean ports, both choices, and still does not print yellow. And yes there is ink in the cartridgy. Any...

Perform print head deep cleaning from the printer driver.
1. Right-click the printer icon, and then select 'Properties'.

2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, and then click 'Deep Cleaning'.

maintdeep.jpg 3. Select the nozzles that need to be cleaned and click 'OK'.

4. Read the message displayed, and then click 'OK'. The power lamp blinks and print head deep cleaning starts. (Do not perform any other operations until print head deep cleaning is complete. Print head deep cleaning takes about 1 minute.)

I have cleaned and deep cleaned my canon mp520 and roller cleaned and bottom plate cleaned and STILL I am getting black ink blots and smudges on newly printed pages. HELP??!!

I would try manually cleaning the cartridge. Please see my tip on doing this.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4304395-fix_or_repair_or_clean_or_unclog_inkjet

I believe that the area that the printer uses to clean and cap the heads can become soaked with ink. You may have already cleaned this area but if not I would do it. It's a sponge surrounded by a gasket that is used to clean the cartridge and to cover it when not in use so that the ink doesn't dry up.

If this fails, I would replace the cartridge(s) and see if you still have the same problem.

Hope this helps and good luck!

My printer has stopped printing from the cyan ink

Hi, did you let the ink cartridge dry out completely before inserting a new cyan cartridge???

If this is the case you may have a bit of trouble getting the ink through the printhead...you have to persevere with deep cleaning and/or head cleaning...
if that does not work you may need a new printhead...which is usually dearer than a new printer...
I would also take the printhead out and clean the contacts with Isopropol alcohol...do not get finger prints on the contacts...that will stop it very quickly...
just a thought...did you remove the sealing tape over the airholes and bottom feeder hole on the cartridge???
if the airholes are sealed the cartridge pulls a vacuum and the ink will not flow...
hope this helps you...
cheers

Changed ink cartrigde and printer no longer printing.

microsoft logo is in colour and so its printing while everything else on test page is black so its not printing. the problem is common.you need to do automatic deep cleaning for the ink flow to start once you install new cartridges.go to printer maintanance option and click the option deep cleaning .it will pull out the ink in printer head and it will start working.sometimes also requires cleaning twice. thanks and do not forget to accept the solution.

Run the "Clean Bottom Plate" routine under the "Maintenance" tab. I ran it about 8 times and it finally got all the gunk out.
