The VX3000 has a built in microphone so no, you won't need a microphone. You will need speakers connected to your PC's audio output to hear voice chat.

While using Skype, the person I am talking to can't hear me. It says I need to install a soundcard. What is the solution?

If the person cannot hear you then, either your mic driver not installed or not working OR the mic is not configured in Skype.
To test your mic go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the mic need to be configured in Skype.
Normal 0 To configure the mic - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

Get error that resolution is not high enough even though I have changed it ..camera lifecam vx-3000

Hi there,

Dissapointed to know the resolution not working for Lifecam. However, I investigated and came across couple of articles that will definitely resolve the issue.
Mismatch configuration and drivers have caused such thing. Nevermind, click the links provided below to make it work;

How do i get the mic to work on my laptop. I can hear people but they cannot hear me when i use the skype programme.

Hi Grace,
IN Skype I would recommend you do a "test" call..(You can find how to make a test call under: Tools -> Options -> Audio settings) You'll see a link at the bottom that says: "Make a test call". In the same "Audio settings" page of Skype you'll see your audio devices. Make sure you have the right microphone selected. If it's properly connected and selected, when you are in this page and you talk into you mic, the little horizontal bar under the Mic selection should light up each time you make a noise.
Hope this helps. Ed PS: bare in mind that laptops such as the Toshiba Satellite A105 doesn't have a built in mic and you need to buy one separately and plug it in into the mic jack.

I can not use my computer microphone for live talk my computer acer aspire 5570z, other person to whom I talk can not hear my voice

Make sure the microphone jack plugged into the right jack socket
and that the microphone is plugged into the socket at the front of the pc.

In WinXP go to Control Panel\Sounds and Audio\Voice\Test hardware, this will test your mic by recording from it and playing it back.

If you are using a sound card go through the software setting.

I have just bought an Acer 7730 t5800 laptop. I am in the sound test and no noise comes from the subwoofer on the test. I have read it is for low noise, should I hear anything during the test?

Sure you should when they are talking about low noise they are talking about filters to keep electrical noise out. Is there a seperate volume control on your sub woofer i know mine does. To be able to adjust how much bass you want.
God Bless Greg

I recently bought a Microsoft LifeCam 1.4, duly downloaded the program onto my laptop and the first time I used it every worked perfectly. However next time the picture was perfect but there was no sound,...

Hi birdie,

Uninstalling and reinstalling the camera software may fix this problem as the settings should revert to when they worked for you the first time ( also go in and delete any folders left by the software after you uninstall)
Also i would try to connect another microphone to see if there is any sound that way you can rule out the lifecam as being the problem and concentrate on the fact that its your sound settings that are creating the difficulty.

Try to check the settings for your windows sound by going to start menu>control panel>sounds and audio devices and making sure that no volume slider is down or that no mute button is checked.
Also after asking around i found that this is a common problem with the lifecam due to some pc's only having half duplex(to techie?) what that means is they can only have sound or voice but not both at the same time.

When making a video call on windows live messenger, the person I'm talking to can see me but not hear me. I can see and hear them. I have tried my webcam's mic in the "sound recorder" program...

Go to tools in the messenger application and choose Audio video setup - run through the wizard and make sure that as it checks the audio that the right audfio system is being used - i.e. the Audio driver for your Web cam that was installed and not the audio driver that came with your PC as standard.

Also check in control panel for the "Sounds and audio devices" icon and check in there to make sure your Microphone volume is turned up and not muted.
