It really depends on your machine, the cleanliness of your power source(i.e. whether your power is "Dirty", as in intermittent or unreliable", the age of the machine, the handling of the machine, and how long the machine has been left on. The weakest link of most electronic devices are the capacitors, they are usually only rated to a certain period of time, and a lot of machines and appliances(mostly home theater and computer equipment) has been suffering in the past 10 years from a bad capacitor electrolyte recipe, which has resulted in the undue deaths and RMAs of countless items.

Basically, there's really no telling. However, the motors and rotors will all run just fine so long as they are taken care of, with regular tune-ups, and your timing will remain intact so long as you do not attempt to force fabric through the dogs, and just let them do their steady work.

mmmSOUNDS LIKE THE MACHINE MAY NEED OILING, PREFERABLY SEWING MACHINE OIL.. WD40 CAN BE USED TEMPORORILY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE OIL. THE EFFECT OF THE WD40 WILL NOT LAST LONG. ALSO CHECK THE SHUTTLE FOR TIED UP THREADS.

The machine needle broke and I'm not sure what needle I need for my Brother LS-2220 sewing machine

Wow, talk about rambling solutions to a simple question ...
Brooklyn35, go to a place that sells sewing machine needles and buy some, period, end of story. All home sewing machines for the last 50 years (not sergers) take the same needles, the best quality needles are Schmetz brand, they are stronger, sew better, and last longer than cheap ones.

How much is it worth? how old ? singer sewing machine serial no.JB874173

Hi. Sewing machines are super abundant so there is not much of a market for them. Older machines (not computerized, no plastic gears or other plastic parts) were made to last--and by the millions. Some older machines are highly prized by collectors of that particular machines. Newer, computerized machines with lots of plastic parts seldom last very long (20 years is about the max), so most people won't pay very much for them.

To get an idea of what your particular machine may be worth, check out ebay.com

Good luck,

Robbie

If in the uk, any high street sewing shop that sells brother machines will help you, otherwise, check the local yellow pages for sewing machine suppliers and spares.
