If this is an ELECTRIC range, more than likely the broil heating element for the oven is defective and needs to be replaced. The following link explains how to replace a heating element on an electric range:

Since all the oven features on either a gas or electric range are controlled by the Electronic Range Control (ERC) board, and the bake element (I'm assuming) IS working, it may be safe to assume this is not a control board problem.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I have listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need.

NOTE: The ERC is also known as the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board on some models.

If you have questions about this repair, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER so that I may be able to provide you with a more difinitive solution. I hope this helps you.

Oven will not heat up.

If the oven won't heat, did you check both the bake and broil element? If both are not working correctly you are going to have a control board issue most likely. If only one works, then the other should just have to be replaced.

My kenmore oven keeps saying f7 and doesn't work

In another posting I saw that a Technical Data Sheet was taped inside the top control panel. I opened it up (two LONG screws mounted vertically in the top of oven door) and was able to access the Technical Data Sheet. It DOES have all the "F" codes listed, AND instructions for setting many variables within the oven. CAUTION: !!!! if you are NOT experienced working on ribbon cables, the delicate connectors and in close proximity to "hot" wiring... I DO NOT recommend attempting this... Call a repairman or find someone who IS familiar with all of the above.

Oven not heating

If oven has more than one heating elemet the problem would appear to be faulty oven heat control as not common for two elements to open circuit simultaneously. If the oven has one heating element in modern ovens the element is normally removeable plug in type.
Get someone with electrical knowledge to check whether element is open circuied with a multimeter and confirm line voltage between the element contact points if not found to be opencircuited

Dryer no heating how do I get to the fuses and the heating elemet

using a wide flat screw driver pry the top up at the edges betwenn the main top and the front panel. Lay it down on it's back for this. Now look for your door switch wires and undo them. Now look inside the front panel toward the top and remove 2 attaching screws or hex screws. Lift panel at top and remove. Now undo 3 screws in middle of inside drum and pull drum out after un-doing belt. There you should find your heat element and all the thermostats and the thermal fuse should be labeled. If heat element is not broken then chances are your thermal fuse is bad replace it

Whirlpool Gold Oven( question #2)

Hi, you can heck the element with the multimeter. Touch the connections on the element with the meter cables, on buzzer. If it buzzes is OK, If silent, the elemet is dead. Cheers

I am suspect that the elements stay completely cold, but if they do, the elements have failed.

If the elements get slightly warm, then one of the breakers of the two breakers that power the oven, or, one of the fuses if a fuse box, has tripped.

If a breaker has tripped or fuse has blown, chances are one of the two elements has a short.

Falling broil element

Yes, there should be a Z shaped clip in the center of the element's supporting crossbar at the front of the oven. There is 1 screw that goes into the roof of the oven. The clip and screw don't seem to have a part number independently from the broil element. The best resolution depends a bit on your circumstances. If the Z shaped clip is still screwed to the roof, just unscrew it, push the elemet up and attach. If the clip is missing, you can buy a new element for $75 or so, you can ask if the local appliance repair people have anything left over, or you can make one from almost a scrap of anything made of sheet steel. If you have to buy something from the harware store, a steel outlet box cover plate is inexpensive and it already has a screw hole, just cut and bend it. You'll need an appropriate (very short, 1/2") pan head #8 or #6 sheet metal screw from any harware store. I don't reall which, but they're only 5 cents, buy one of each..
