Question about GE Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

We let our propane tank get empty. It's full now, and the water heater and stovetop work, but the oven pilot won't light. It worked fine before the gas went out. It glows, but there's no gas flow. What do we do?

Call your gas supplier for help. If you feel comfortable you can inspect the tank first and check that the valve isn't off. If your delivery guy knew that you ran out he would shut it of from the tank to protect your home. (since multiple pilots may have gone out).
If the valve is on then you may want to try resetting the valve to the appliance, one at a time. If I'm speaking french to you don't worry but ask a professional for help. Good luck.

Switched propane tank and no hot water why

The pilot light went out because the gas supply was interrupted? They usually have two tanks and an automatic switchover in a domestic situation. You change the empty one before the full one runs out.

Can propane gas lines cause pilot lights to go out?

It could be a blockage in you pipes or blocked pilot on water heater nees cleaning or your pipe size is too small for both or you are low on gas or reg on tank not working ie wrong working pressure .

Dsi flt light keeps going on and the black water light says full when we just emptied it.

DSi light coming on is to alert you that the water heater didn't light on propane for one reason or another. Sometimes people just forgot to turn propane on or are out of propane. What happens when you shut it off and turn it back on? (listening and watching from outside with cover open) DO you see or hear sparking?

As far as black water showing full when just emptied, it is most likely a piece of toilet paper inside the tank that is hanging up from top probe on inside of tank, and touching lower probe, thus giving a full reading. This is very common, at all levels. You can buy a rinse wand and rinse inside of tank through toilet to try and wash it off, or live with it for now, and add lots of water or cleaner deodorizer to tank , or buy probe cleaner, or even the old standby, some laundry soap added to tank , then fill tank close to full with water and rock trailer to swish it around, then drain it. Most times, waiting until next dump, and adding lots of water beforehand, will fix it.

I have a full tank of propane - my pilot light is sparking but it will not light? Any ideas on what to check? Thank you, Korby

Korby, I think you meant, your ignitor is sparking and you're not getting gas to the pilot. Since you have a full tank of propane, I can rule out that the tank is empty. However, I believe the tank or at least the tank valve is playing a role in this.

Turn the tank valve completely OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow Motion, slow) until the valve is fully open. Then light the pilot as you normally would. If the pilot lights, you solved the problem. If it didn't, either the pilot light is clogged and needs to be cleaned or the heater's hose/regulator assembly needs to be replaced.

Endless Summer Patio Heaters are made by Blue Rhino. So, if you need parts, that's where you can get them. Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Lights while holding primer/pilot button then runs out of propane within seconds. If you wait a minute it builds up then does the same thing like the propane tank is empty but it is full.

Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the heater hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the heater hose/regulator to the propane t. Turn the tank valve on very, very slowly until it's completely open again. Now, try lighting the heater. If you are using a 20lb LP grill type tank, that should solve your problem.

Hope that helped.

Coleman heater model 5445c700 propane camp heater wont light. It did work fine. When I hold the knob in the light position you can hear gas but it barely ignites then goes out. I've tried new gas and...

If you're using a 20lb propane tank (Gas Grill Tank), that may be the problem. Turn off the propane tank at the tank valve and disconnect it from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reattach the heater hose to the tank. Turn the propane tank valve on very, very slowly until it's all the way open. Try lighting your heater now. If the pilot flame height returned to normal, that was the problem.

FYI - The Thermocouple has nothing to do with the length of the pilot flame. It's a safety feature that stops the gas if the pilot flame goes out for any reason.

Hope that solves your problem. Please let me know.

Whirlpool water heater went out. Pilot will not light. Cannot hear or smell gas when I press reset button.

With just the little information you left, my first reaction is that your propane tank is empty, but I don't know if it's propane or nat gas. It is also possible you have a dirty filter screen. Some brilliant engineer decided to install these on the bottom of today's water heaters and then require they be cleaned every 6 months. If you don't and they get dirty, which they always do, then the pilot goes out and it will not relight. Cleaning the fine mesh screen below the burner is what is needed to prevent this from occurring. Other brands are replacing the existing burner assembly with a new burner assembly that has a reset switch built into it. You may call Whirlpool and see if this applies to your water heater. They will need your model # and serial #. Hope this helps. Douglas

Propane convection heater won't maintain full flame

Seems like the valve is not opening up fully or the adjustment is out of adjustment. Try adjusting the flame.
