I have bose wave with input voltage 110 volts but i want to change it 220 volts where i can buy a transformer

Check the back or the bottom of the Wave unit for the input voltage rating. If it has a universal power supply, it will show something like "Input voltage 97-243 VAC 50-60 Hz," i. e., the input voltage rating spans the full range from 110 VAC US to 240VAC Europe. In that case, all you have to do is get a power cord suitable for the power in your area.

I checked the specification in the on-line owner's manual, but it wasn't helpful; it said the input power rating is "220V-240V
50/60Hz 60W max" We know it works on 120 V, so the 220V in manual may be a typographical error. Go with the information on the unit case. If it says "120 V 60Hz" and nothing about 240 V, then you would need a transformer rated for at least 70 Volt-Amps (60 Watts plus a reserve factor so you don't have to worry about overloading it).

I tried checking my favorite site for electronic products such as travel transformers and adapters (MCM Electronics), but as of this time they were having server problems. Note: they may have the 240 V version of the power cord, or you can check whether Bose sells it separately.

How to wire and size a potential relay

To size a potential relay you must read the Start winding voltage (the BEMF)
which will be above the supplied line voltage, in this example I use 300 volts for math.
BEMF = 300 volts,
300v x ,50 = 150v minimum
300v x .80 = 240v maximum
300v x 1.20 = 360v continuous
So you want the Start capacitor to stay in the circuit to at least 150v BEMF or risk stalling, and you do not want the Star capacitor to stay in beyond 240v BEMF or risk
exploding the Start capacitor.
The 120% continuous rating is to oversize the coil in the potential relay that remains in the system to protect it .
If you have a compressor that is not running you will need to jump it with a Start capacitor(a large one) to the run capacitor for 1 second or so to bump start the compressor, then you can read the Start winding for the BEMF reading.

Does it have 2 plugs 110 and a 220

This is the oven spec, so it has to be 220 volts to support that wattage. The oven and broiler are electric and the hob is gas. Best of both worlds. (I am a chef)

Plug in outlet is only reading 50 amps what is wrong

it is the voltage 240, not the amps 50, that you should test, as 50 amps should be plenty to run your dryer, if its not running with 240v and 50 amps going to it, there is another issue inside the dryer

    Wiring of an electrical contactor

I'm an electrician and would like to help you out.

Unfortunately, you're real short on details for this question. There are many types of contactors that work to operate all kinds of loads. Basically, a contactor allows a switch of one voltage to operate a light on another voltage or system - or allows a relatively low current switching device or momentary contact push button to operate a much larger current device.

What are you trying to do (provide as much detail as possible)?

What is the control type (push button, switch, sensor, etc.) and voltage (24V, less than 120V more than 120V)? What is the load device (light, motor, heater), voltage (120, 240 single phase 3 phase) and current (in amps)?

Is this a contactor or a starter (starters have overload relay blocks under the contactor)? What size is the contactor? Is there a listing for amps? Does it have a NEMA number - like "NEMA SIze 00"? Or a horsepower rating? What is the voltage rating of the coil?

The voltage in my country is 230volts 50HZ I have a 120/240 volts maytag dryer what can i do to get it working

Normally the 240 volts rating is nominal and the device will run at 230 volts. The question is will the dryer run at 50 HZ? Check on the electrical rating tag on the machine. It may work. The motor may just spin at 50/60, 5/6 of the 60 HZ speed.

The motor popped when I first used it. I had a US version (110 volts) and plugged it into Australian plug with adapter at 240 volts. Any ideas?

All the adapter did was enable you to put 240VAC straight into your 110/120VAC coffee maker. You needed a step down transformer to drop the voltage from 240 to 120 VAC. This is not what you wanted to hear but you have damaged your coffee maker substantially by using the wrong voltage. Also the US version is designed for 60 HZ power vs AU 50 Hz power unless stated otherwise on the input power data plate.

Damage that has probably taken place:

    1. Motor PN 8211837

    2. Relay and Switch assembly PN: 8212011. .

    3. Capacitor PN 8211608

Cost to repair... will be close to total replacement value due to shipping costs & customs of replacement parts

    No operation

Hello their, thanks for trying fixya, the issue with these type of tools is normally the ac motor, their are many diffident types used but yours in particular 120V, 50-60 Hz, AC, 1.15 amp double insulated motor. Operates from 5,000 to 30,000 RP, their is a electric motor that may have failed on you or the switch could burned out. this is possible when the contacts are shorted for to long become to hot and overload the small circuit used to control potential voltages to the motor, consider it like a variable pot switch.

a simple test here would be you can take the unit apart easily enough and unplug from wall, make sure you have no voltage from mains going in. when the unit is not plugged in get your trusty voltage ohm meter or vom
