Question about Panasonic TH50PX600U 50 Inch Plasma Flat Panel HDTV

1 Answer

Picture is seizing up, pixelating and audio goes on and off. Happening on HD and non-HD channels. One year ago (Jan., 2009) we had to replace the DG module on this same tv at a cost of over $600. Panasonic agreed to split the cost since tv was only 1-1/2 years old. TV purchased May, 2007. Technician replaced the defective DG Module with a refurbished one, not a brand new one. Coudl this same part be causing the current problem? Could it be our cable provider's HD converter box? TV Model is TH50OX600U

Cable tech is coming out in 2 days to check the box. I made a mistake in the model no. It is

TH50PX600U. I hope it's just the box and not another costly part in the set itself. We do have a DVD hooked up to the set. Will try your suggestion. If DVD picture is ok, is it more likely that the cable box is the problem?

It sounds like an issue with the hd box. Do you have a dvd player hooked up to the tv? I would watch a dvd and see if you have the same problem. This way you can isolate where the problem is. Then I would contact your cable provider either have them reset the box, or have it replaced with a new one. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Yes that is correct. If dvd plays fine its almost certainly the box. Let me know how it goes.

Vertival Color Lines

We had the same thing happen to us on the right-hand side. A technician told us yesterday that the Motorola Cable Box (supplied by Shaw Cable) places a border on Non-True HD Channels. Because we didn't place our picture setting to 'full-screen' each time we viewed these channels and burn line was created. He gestimated a replacement screen runs about $800.00 Canadian, but we have a 3 year extended warranty and will receive a new TV. He also said it happens on all big screen tv's that use a cable box creating borders on Non-True HD Channels.

Is this a HD channel? This is usually caused by a hiccup in the streaming of HD from the cable/sat company. How long has this been happening?

Sony BRAVIA KDL46S2010 Sound and Pix not in sync - in HDTV channels only

This is a software issue with both the TV manufacture and the cable box provider. This will only be fixed when the cable company and TV manufacture sit down and work out their problem. Some cable company has taken the first step by updating cable boxes with different software.
