SOURCE: Printer not feeding paper properly or at all..

Mine had a crumpled up shred of paper in it. I had to unbend a paper clip to dig it out. After alot of digging, and shaking, and partially disassembling the printer, I got it out. Thanks for the tip

SOURCE: Dell 3100cn Duplex won't feed

I'd suggest it is a sensor issue. Since the error comes up, the printer stops responding - even if everything is okay.

SOURCE: paper jam

There is a sensor in the back that lets the printer know the paper has exited the fuser. It is probably broken off if paper is getting stuck back there.

Also check for paper remnants that are jammed. This may require removal of the fuser.

SOURCE: Paper not feeding

The Dell 3000cn & 3010CN both display this fault.

The root cause of the problem is the Rubber pads of the feed roller in the paper tray become warn and fail to grip the paper the paper feeds a few millimetres and then is let go by the worn roller, the paper path sensors pick this up and then a paper jam is notified.

The only remedy for this problem is to obtain a new feed roller for the paper tray mechanism. Unfortunately dell in the UK do not sell maintenance kits to the public, and therefor ehte only place I found them wa on Ebay in the USA.

The kit in quetsion is the vertical paper feed maintenance kit. it costs around $50 plus shipping.

The only other option is to have a Dell approved service agent replace the rollers for you.

If you hear a grinding or cruching noise when paper is fed, then one of the mini plastic guide rollers had detached itself from its position and wound up in the tape path mechanism (very expensive repair)

The printer keeps saying that there is a paper jam when there is not.. Also some times when it trys to print it will jam and the page will be torn down the middle.

Check the machine carefully, sometins a small sliver of paper is caught in a critical place in the printer and will give the paper jam message. If you paper is being torn it is most likely due to an uneven feed caused by feed wheels that are slipping on one side while the other side still feeds normally. Clean all the feed wheels in the paper path with a Q tip soaked in Isopropil Alcohol. Also make sure that your paper guides are set to the correct widths.

I have a aficio 200 and it is showing a fault misfeed at a and i have removed the paper but it seems to be stuck at that point

If after clearing the jam; the machine warms up, trys to feed again, and jams. There is something causing it to jam. This could be a feed roller, clutch, or sensor. If the jam never clears; you likely have a small chunk of paper sitting on a sensor, or a faulty sensor. Get a flashlight and take a good look into the "a" section, its a tight area but also short, so finding the paper shouldn't be too hard if there is some in there. Getting it out may require a long screw driver or canned air.

Printer is grinding

sounds Like a paper jam , Plus your paper feed rollers are dirty, clear any paper inside the printer, the using a cloth rag and some 409 cleaner , wipe feed rollers to remove white paper dust on rollers, and let dry, then add paper to printer and it should print.

Paper Jams

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
