Question about Singer 7442 Mechanical Sewing Machine
I recently purchased a Singer 7442 and went to try it out today. Instructions were fairly simple and after winding the bobbin, threading the top thread and threading the bobbin, I went to try a few practice stitches .... and it quit working. It seems to make 2 or 3 stitches and then stop with all the lights on the console flashing. The only way to get it operational again is to turn the mahine off entirely. I have reread the manual numerous times and cannot figure out what is wrong. I have tried re-threading both the top and bobbin threads as well as reinserting the needle, but to no avail. I have tension, length and width set the "auto". Extremely frustrating. Any idea as to what the issue could be?
Had the same problem as mommyb2 - it was the bobbin spindel was in the wrong position. Push bobbin spindel to the left and it works for sewing.
Have the same problem winding my first bobbin - pushed spindel to the right to engage bobbin fuction and the machine locks up and wont wind the bobbin. Irig did you bring it in for repair? I'm thinking its broke - which **** as mine is a brand new machine
