It is very likely that your dishwasher is growing mold, in this condition. If it is causing your dishes the same issue, it may be wisest to obtain a dishwasher cleanser(Several detergent manufacturers now sell dishwasher cleaning items), which will hopefully kill off any mold colonies growing in your dishwasher's blades, and in your drain cap.

My maytag dishwasher MDB8750AWS has an odor while washing an after completed cycle

Hello Thomas;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Your dish washer just need a good cleaning. Plastic is holds odors.

Pour 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher. Run on hot and heavy load. Spread 1/2 cup of baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher and let set over night. Run the dishwasher in the morning.

Eggs cause wet dog smell in my dishwasher. Prewash anything that has come in contact with either raw or cooked eggs before putting it in the dishwasher. I haven't had the smell since I figured this out.

Foul odor coming from dishwasher and drain after running.

Hello. Begin by pouring drain cleaner into that drain as per the instructions on the bottle. Then, pour two cups of white vinegar into the dishwasher and run it on it's longest and hottest cycle, empty of dishes of course. The vinegar will clean and deodorize your dish washer. Regards, Joe

Dishes are still damp after cycle is complete. This causes a bad odor in the dishwasher.

Bad odor is caused by something besides wet dishes.

When the water finishes it's part and is exhausted, does a fan come on and run for a long time? If not, the drying fan is bad, usually mounted on the side and runs after all the water is removed. Also, after the water stops, are the dishes and inside HOT? You have to have HOT water to make a dishwasher function properly, will also take care of some of that odor. When a dishwasher cycles, it washes and then heats the inside of the washer, then it runs a fan to remove the water and dry the dishes.

Make sure your dishwasher is hooked to the HOT water line and also check to be sure it can heat it's own water, put it on pot's and pans and it should heat the water quite hot, even if it has hot water coming in, it will heat it up some more.

Start up and empty dishwasher, with no dishwasher powder detergent added. Wait for the dishwasher to fill and begin the wash cycle. Open the do and add one quarter cup of household bleach. Allow to finish the whole cycle.

Check the smell and look at the residual water left in the bottom of the dishwasher, if you can see it. Is that water clear?

Run several loads of dirty dishes and check for any odor.

If problems return, recommend you remove the filter assembly in the lower sump area (the spray arm will need to be removed too.) Inspect with a flashlight the whole area for debris and blockages. Reassemble and keep checking it for any return of the odor. This is not normal for a modern dishwasher.

Dishes smell like wet dog hair when cycle ends

There is a product called " Dishwasher Magic " to clean, deodorize, and disinfect dishwashers. Hardware, appliance parts, and possibly grocery stores should carry it. It comes in a rectangular 12 once bottle.
Also, check to see that the drain hose loops up higher than the outlet into the drain so no water will run back into your dishwasher from the drain or disposer.
