Dryer shuts off after 5 seconds then beeps 3 times

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle.

Why is my clothes still damp

sensor has wax buildup on it Dryer thinks clothes is dry. Shuts down. Get busy cleaning the sensor strips with windex or 409 The strips are located inside the dryer below the filter on most models. The way it works is wet clothes rub the sensor strips which discharges a capacitor on the dryness sensor board. As long as the capacitor is being discharged from the wet clothes the control knows to keep on a truckin. if no moisture is sensed then the capacitor will achieve a full charge and the control will proceed to end of cycle after a cool down period. Clean the sensor bars and party on.

Westinghouse dryer ld505e on/off button wont stay on when l push it

If it has dampness sensor strips inside the machine they may be coated with dryer sheet wax or some other mess. Clean them with windex and retry. As the clothes rub against these sensors the dampness causes the dryness board to keep the machine a going. if no dampness is detected the dryer shuts down. Supposely to save power.

Amana electric gas timer stops moving diring cycle. Dryer turns off.

Captain we have a problem. What is it Spock and don't tell me you are out of Di-lithium Crystal Blow again. The dryer keeps shutting down prematurely sir. Scotty quick, grab the Windex and clean the gookus of the sensors so that dampness can be detected or we will all be running around in our fundoshi's!

My dryer will run for a couple of minutes then shut off we already replaced the heating element

If your dryer has electronic sensors like this:
They might have a coating builtup on them preventing them from feeling the wet clothes. As the wet clothes tumble in the dryer they rub up against these sensor strips. As long a wetness is there the capacitor is dicharged on the controls upstairs and it continues to dry them wet clothes. If junk gets on them sensors no wetness will e felt by them sensors. It is a simple as that. The dryer thinks the clothes is dry because no dampness is being detected so is shuts down thinking all is propah. Get some windex and scrub them sensors good so dampness can be sensed by the two sensors once more and party on!

Dryer was working Ok and then the lights started flashing and dryer shut off and started beeping.. The cool down light is on and the drying light is on also..The drum door is closed.

I had the same problem and called the technician out, the door was slightly loose and not touching the small sensor (that is on the front of the dryer) properly. All he did was tighten up the screws for a cost of $100!
