Monitor display on Dell E176FP

I was rearranging my desk. Turned computer off. Plugged it all back up...everything works fine, but my monitor is dull...background screen is not bright white...colors are off...red seems to be gone. What might have happened? Any suggestions on what to do?

Check the connection...it was okay, but I removed the cable and inspected the plug...one of the pins was bent! Straightened it out with my wife's tweezers and we're back in business!

You may loose connections at the end of the VGA cable, or video card not seated tightly. I would check that first.

Well first check to see if the connection form the monitor to the tower is good. if it is then you might just have to go to the setting from yor screen and adjust it yourself.

Monitor has developed a permanent dark turquoise hue.

Did you ever try the original monitor on another machine. If the new monitor is displaying the same symptoms as the old one then your video card is the culprit.

Yeah, I called Dell yesterday, and they said it was a problem that I could not fix myself. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but my monitor was still under warranty, so they shipped me a replacement right away. I already got it this morning.

FYI: Their monitors carry a three year warranty.

Monitor problem

Try unplugging the video cord from the computer.
If it does the same thing then it is not detecting your cord.
If so, try a new cord.

What does it say on the screen if the above does not fix it.
