I just bought call of duty 4 for my laptop. Installed it correctly, i use wireless internet, but i do have all 5 bars of connectivity. I enter a game(any game between multiplayer to story mode) and i encounter extreme lag and freezing. To be exact, about 1 bullet every 5 seconds on an MP5. My Laptop is a brand new HP. Has Nvidia GeForce Go 7150M Graphics card. 250GB harddrive. 2GB Ram. Highdef sound card. AMD Turion 64x2 Processor. Windows Vista Home Premium. I Tried disableing my wireless internet security. I also opened my ports.

This is worked for me on Vista: 1. Goto Network and Sharing Center. 2. Click on your Wireless Connection "View Status". 3. Click on Propertes. 4. Uncheck the option that says "Internet Protocol Version 6"
Configure the Router1.Step 1 Open your web browser, type " http://192.168.1.1/ " into the address bar and hit "Enter." 2.Step 2 Use "Admin" as the username in the pop-up box and leave the password blank. 3.Step 3 Connect to the Internet and click on "Internet Setup." 4.Step 4 Select your connection type from the drop-down menu. Choose "DHCP" for cable modems or "PPPoE" for most DSL modems. If you are unsure of these options, check with your ISP. 5.Step 5 Set a service set identifier (SSID) to identify the router and change the password. 6.Step 6 Encrypt your wireless connection using a Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key. Under the "Wireless Security" option, enter a passphrase and click "Generate." This will generate a password which will need to be used by any client connecting to your router.
Unfortunately, you're going to have to do some troubleshooting for this. Possible causes: 1. Errant programs running in the background(most likely) 2. Somebody else is sucking up the bandwidth 3. Someone installed a different wireless network driver on your computer and it doesn't work as well 4. You changed your encryption on your router and your machine seems to have an issue with it.
The first thing, I'd do if I had the laptop would be to run HijackThis! and see what programs are running in the background(or at least check the processes in the task manager). I might also log into the router and check to see if anyone else is connected. In the same vein, I'd probably log on with another PC and do some bandwidth checks www.speedtest.net is good for that.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but this could take quite a bit of time to figure out and difficult to explain in a text box.
