I have a leak on my older T30 compressor. The leak is where the tube coming down from the left cylinder and goes into what I would call the crankcase. I have taken the tube off and unscrewed the fitting from the crankcase and the fitting is a square type fitting with only threads on the corners and the air is coming out of the flat sides of this fitting. I can not find my manual.

The valve is a unloader valve that should shut when the compressor is running and open when the pump stops to relieve the head pressure for the next start of the compressor. if air keeps coming out long after the pump has stopped then you have a defective valve in the left hand head.

Older GE fridge model number TFX20JRXAAA. Why is it not cooling below 50 degrees?

Depending on refrigerator age it could possibly be 2 things if you have no ice buildup on evaporator coils in freezer. 1st-- the discharge tube on the compressor is the smaller of the tubes. It actually should be hot when working right. The other bigger tube is the suction line which is the return line from the freezer coils and should be slightly cool not cold enough to sweat. when working right. You may be low on freon which should never happen unless your tubing developed a small leak somewhere. Refrigerators don't need recharged like car units because everything is soldered shut not bolted together like cars. If he freon leaked out the leak would need to be found--repaired---and then recharged with the proper amount of freon. The other possibility with older refrigerators say 15 years or older is what is called a low capacity compressor. It runs, but the inside gets worn out and it doesn't pump the freon like it should. The end result is exactly what you describe but low freon does the same thing.

I have a, sanborn black max compressor builds up to about 30psi but won't go higher. will hold that when shut off. couldit be a check valve?

If it were the check valve, (safety release valve), you would hear the air escaping from the safety release valve. You have an air leak somewhere. A small leak in the system will keep the compressor from building pressure. If you turn the compressor on and feel around the ends of the tube that leads from the compressor cylinder head to the tank (be careful... it will be HOT) you may feel air escaping from the tube connector at the tank or the connector at the compressor cylinder head. If that is the case, tighten the connectors at the compressor head and the tank. If the connectors still leak, you will need to remove the tube and replace the packings (gaskets) at each end of the tube. Also check all of the hose connectors for leaks, and check the hose for damage that may cause an air leak. If you remove the air hose from the compressor and run the compressor you will be able to tell if your problem is in the hose or hose connectors or the compressor-to-head air tube.

Have a 919.167240 that won't go over 60psi. No leaks, the check valve is working. Motor keeps running and I need to shut it down manually.I removed the compressor and checked the head and housing,

If all is well where you say it is the next thing I'd check is the condition of the piston & cylinder then the valve plate. On oilless compressors it's common for the ring on the piston to get worn or have peices come off. It may or may not damage the cylinder but it will be able to compress air until the pressure is too high for the leak past the piston to overcome. Also if the valve plate got overly hot the reed valves may warp or break off, again letting the pump compress air only to a point then the internal leak will prevent it from getting high enough for the motor to stop and cool down.

I have just bought an old ingersol rand T30 A2955 it has a knocking noise I would like to investigate it further but would like to have a manual handy before I strip it down do you know were to get one...

T30 compressors have changed very little over the years. You can use practically any t30 parts list for an aid in looking at how things line-up.
The link below is pretty much what you will find. Your local ingersol rand repair center will have parts and service manual for your unit. Easy way to look into interior of the pump without tearing many gaskets is to remove cylinder at the base of the pump. Quite heavy so you will need a lift of some sort. Good luck with your repair.

How dose the unloader work on a T30 compresser ? T30 compresser has small air leak sound comming from intake ? Is there a flow chart of how ther air is compressed T30 ?

There is no unloader on a 2340N5 compressor. However there is a pressure switch that cuts the motor on an off. Located inside of the pressure switch is an air bleeder. When the pressure switch is opened the motor is shut off. A small lever in the pressure switch pushes down on the bleeder valve which lets the air on the compressor head to be released. This allows the the compressor to start up freely. There should be some air heard bleeding off at the pressure switch. If air continues to bleed off all the time the tank check valve is leaking.

If air is leaking back thru the compressor an air leak sound coming from around the air filter (intake) you have a valve leaking allowing trapped pressure to escape thru the air filter (Intake).

I would search the web for a flow chart. I have not seen one.

Will not build pressure. It's as if the check valve is stuck open. Where is the check valve and how do I check it.

Easy to check. Follow discharge air tube from compressor to the tank. The brass valve that the tube attaches to is the check valve. You will need some air in the tank for the test. Remove the discharge air tube at tank and spray soapy water. If leaking replace valve or remove and attempt to clean debris. Does not sound like your problem is the valve however. If no leak at valve, check reed valves or head gasket. If your pump is dry lube type, check cylinder for wear / scratches close to top of cylinder. Good luck

T30 model 2340 is leaking air from around the pressure switch when compressor shuts off. This will last for a few minutes and then when compressor starts and stops it will do it all over again

you have a broken valve. follow the small 1/4 line that comes from the pressure switch, and if it goes to the discharge line from the pump to where it enters the tank, there is a large hex fitting that it is hooked into. drain all the pressure off the tank, and remove the fitting from the tank, this should be a check valve and is stuck open.

If the small line goes to an innerstage cooler between the large and small cylinders, then you have a broken valves in the cylinder head that need to be rebuilt.

Compressor is building up pressure very slow.

It could very well be the valve plate however before you order parts take a look at the cylinders. Unplug the unit, remove the cover from crank side and turn the compressor by hand till the/a piston is at top of stroke. Examine upper cylinder for scratches /wear or failed vinyl piston ring. On oil-free compressors, dirt and grit is sucked-in from the bottom of the cylinder and causes leaks between cylinder wall and piston. If scratched, air pressure is leaking down thru cylinder wall. Failed reed valves cause a pulsation at the intake port (air seems to be pumped out the intake). If you see a model number anywhere on the pump that begins with " WL", your pump is made by Campbell Hausfeld. Parts can be ordered from www.chpower.com. other-wise order parts from sears parts. Cylinder kits are around $40. Good Luck on the repair and email if you have questions.

Defroster leaks

the defrost water usually goes down a tube underneath the frig & ends up in a pan near the compressor. more than likely the tube is clogged. water or air pressure in either direction of the tube should solve your problem. hope this helps.
