Question about ViewSonic PJ551 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

My remote does all features except changing screens

It can't move from "slide" to slide on a power point program. Could it need a new battery just for this when everything else works fine?

Hi there

You did'nt mention the make or model of your Projector.

But on most makes and models you need a USB cable going from your PC to the Projector to make use of the scrolling button from your remote.

Remote inop

Step 1:

Have thee remote tested--most shops will do this for free--point remote at the tester and it will react when buttons are pressed on the remote.

Step 2:

A digital camera in many cases can also be used for this---in a very dark room point remote at the camera with the camera on---press buttons and look for a tiny flash of light on the camera display screen.

Step 3:

If remote tests bad it can usually be taken apart and fixed OR you can opt for a new remote---I would avoid universal remotes as they often if program will be missing key and needed button/features.

In our shop we fix remotes with a 10 dollar max price--lots we fix for free.

Step 4:

Last but not least if the remote tests good the remote receiver inside the front of the set may be bad and a shop would have to replace that unless you are able.

Here is a photo of the typical receiver (less than 1/2 inch tall part).

Can i use a universal remote instead of a vizio remote sense the stupid thing does not work

Universals rarely if they program have all the needed features.

1..the original remote can be tested with a tester(MOST shops have one) and many digital cameras in a dim room will when the remote is pointed at them react with a faint flash on their display screen.

2. if remote is good issue is one of two things with set; remote receiver in the set is bad or set has feature that locks the remote out--.

If the remote tests good a universal is a waste of money etc. if remote is bad most of the time (we get 10 dollars if we repair one) it can be fixed.

Rca 24" tv remote won't operate tv

If set turns on with the power button on set the remote is : not set to TV, not programmed for the set, has bad batteries or is bad.

If it even works one function it may need to be reprogrammed or taken apart to see if works---you can test the remote by pointing it at a digital camera with a LCD screen and pressing buttons to see if it makes the screen flash on the camera.

Im pretty sure all you need to do at this point is reprogram the remote. If you dont have the codes go to the RCA website. They normally loose the codes when the batteries die and you have to change them out and re-program it. hope this helps!

Tv Remote stop working already tried new batteries, also tried programing univers remote can't find electron so I tried curtis mathis codes and still can't program remote one work but would not turn of or...

This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls.

Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.

Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!

Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to
each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)

Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.

Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:

If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote.
If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the set.

My remote control (SKY-3001) doesn't seem to communicate with the propane stove.

Sounds like either the batteries are weak or it's lost it's security code. Also, be sure the slide switch on the front of the receiver (the Black Box) is in the Remote position. If after changing ALL the batteries (4-AA in the receiver and 2-AAA in the hand held remote) and they're all positioned properly and it still doesn't work, check the LCD screen to see if the child lock or lock out has been activated. If so, deactivate by pressing the Mode button and the Up button at the same time and hold for 2 seconds. The Lockout icon should disappear.

And finally, if all else fails you'll need to reset the security code. There are 1,048,576 unique security codes, but you'll need only one.

When matching security codes, be sure the slide switch is placed in the REMOTE position; the code will not "LEARN" if the slide switch is in the ON or OFF position. Program the remote receiver to learn a new security code by using a very small scree driver to push in the LEARN button (on the top of the fron of the receiver to the left over the ON position) while at the same time pressing the MODE button on the hand held transmitter. A change in the beeping pattern, at the receiver, indicates the transmitters code has been programmed into the receiver.

The microprocessor that controls the security code matching procedures controlled by a timing function. If you are unsuccessful inmatching the securiy code on the first attempt, wait 1-2 minutes before trying again - this delay allows the microprocessor to reset its timer circuitry and try up to two or three more times

If all of the above solutions fails to solve your problem contact SkyTech Technical Service at 888-672-8929, Monday - Friday.

In the meantime, if you want or need to use your gas log stove for supplemental heating, move the slide switch to the ON position and the burner(s) will light. That's assuming that the gas control valve on the gas log stove is turned to the PILOT position. To turn it off, move the slide switch to the OFF Position and the burners will go out and the pilot will remain burning.

Good luck. Please let me know how it worked out for you.

Receiver was beeping all the time. I changed batteries in receiver, and now remote does not control fireplace. Remote appears to be working fine. If I move switch to on instead of remote on receiver, it...

If you changed the batteries in the receiver (the black box in the fireplace). You should also change the 2-batteries in the hand-held remote. This may sound stupid, but it's not ... be sure all the batteries in the receiver (black box) are all facing the proper direction. Believe me, it's easy to get one turned the wrong direction. Also, make sure that the slide switch is in fact in the remote position. It can be finicky at times. Also, check to make sure that the two wires are still connected firmly at the gas fireplace Control Valve and in the receiver.

  • Now, if all of that doesn't solve your problem, the receiver may have lost it's code..
When matching security codes, be sure slide button on the receiver is in the REMOTE position; the code will NOT "LEARN" if the slide switch
is in the ON or OFF position. Program the remote receiver to LEARN a new security code by pushing in the LEARN button on the top of the
remote receiver and then pressing the MODE button on the transmitter. A change in the beeping pattern, at the receiver, indicates the
transmitter's code has been programmed into the receiver.

There's a lot to check out and do, but that's how you trouble shoot these remotes.

All doors lock with remote except drivers door

Is this a change from what the locking feature used to do? If so, it could be that you have a drivers side door lock solenoid that's going bad. Some security systems are programmed that way, so that if the doors are all unlocked you can lock all but the drivers side door with one press of the lock button, enabling you to get into your car on the drivers side, while an "undesirable" is locked out and unable to open any doors on the opposite side of the car. That feature would be by design, but can probably be changed based on your preference. Consult your security system's documentation for details.

In the explorer window, you can change the .ppt association away from the easy worship tool and restor it to power point. This will open .ppt files with power point.
