Usualy when a laptop shuts off on it's own it is due to a hardware issue. The first thing is to blow out the fan and heat sink as it is most probably clogged up and overheating the Processor. You can do your oun diagnostics by doing these steps.. Pull out the battery and try to boot it on ac power. 2. pull out the dvd rom next and try the same. 3. pull out the hard drive and again try to boot it from ac. 4. pull one memory chip at a time and see if it boots. 5. pull out the wi-fi card and do the same. If you go thru all of this and it still will not boot it is something on the motherboard such as a video card or other hardware such as a lose AC Jack. Wiggle the jack while pressing the start button and see if this makes a diffrence. A very common issue with laptop's. If it is the Jack you need to find someone that knows what they are doing or you will have a good door stop! Good Luck Phil please email me and let me know what you find. pmgibs1@verizon.net

System is producing heat even though its turn all the way down

check if element is grounded to it support or its casing.. some time it will weld ot selt to metal that surronds it, metal distortion appends from heating up and will quite often short to ground and draw power between 1 side of it's imput and discharge it thru the ground keepimg the element supplyed even if the timer/thermotat is shuting propelly the power to the opposite side of the imput line..

I have a Hp laptop bt it is now not shuting down ie all its light on keep on glowing even on shutting down and also it makes a noise while shuting down or turning it on

remove charger first and remove battery second to try which one causing problem.

if any power source cause the problem that is mean the mainboard or power board inside failed.

good luck.

Laptop Pavillion DV6188eu doesn't start up

From what you are describing, the motherboard has failed. I would however like you to try a couple of things though. First remove the hard drive and see if the computer will go to the BIOS screen. If it does not, then the Motherboard has definately died. If you can get to the BIOS, then you might consider a hard drive failure, or your windows installation is so corrupt, it is causing this problem. I would however lean toward a bad MOBO....seems this model, the DV6000 and the DV9000 have serious cooling issues and tend to burn their mobos up. HP recently started updating the BIOS files for these models so the fans and processor run more efficiently to keep the laptop cooler.

Ok,was starting and then shuting itself off,now it starts, all of the lights are on,but no boot and black screen. for a HP DV6000

most commonly this is called a bios loop, this is due to the fact of a currupted bios command or a damaged cpu. to eliminate bios you must disconnect battery and cmos battery usually located where memory is, cmos battery is a small cable attached to a metal disk. unattach hard drive and restart computer. after restart shut down computer and reattach battery. again start computer without hard drive. if bios screen does not appear and same sceneario occurs then your CPU is fried. If bios screen does appear and you reinstall hard drive and get same boot error then your boot sector of hard drive is gone.

Due to black screen at boot and boot loop I would say ypur cpu is gone.

Lenovo booting problem

so u;re saying that the BIOS tests are taking 10 minutes ?! Usually that happenes when the computer shutes down brutally (after power surges, by removing the battery ... by forced shut down). Try doing a BIOS update, and also set it so it will skip some tests or not to do through testing ....
