My dryer (about 4yr old) was fine, until tonight when I tried to start a load to dry. It just wont start. Checked the fuse box and it is plugged in properly. Any ideas?

THIS STILL SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM TO ME, CHECK THE BREAKER THIS WILL BE A 220 BREAKER A 40 AMP DOUBLE POLE BREAKER MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 110 VOLTS ON EITHER SIDE GOING TO DRYER. AND THAT YOU HAVE THE 220 TO THE DRYER IT SELF, CHECK THE ELECTRICAL AND LET ME KNOW WE WILL GO FROM THERE IF THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEN YOU CAN GET A CHEAP 0 METER FROM RADIO SHCK TO CHECK THE VOLTAGE THKS LARRY

Have you tried replacing the fuse in the plug top? Please make sure you replace with the correct rated fuse, too big and you can destroy your dryer, too small and it just wont work.

Hello, I have a duet whirlpool dryer thats about 2 to 3 yrs old and it wont come on. Ive checked all the wires with a ohm meter and everything checked good. when I open the door the inside light comes on....

I suspect the thermal fuse may be open which will cause the dryer to not start. It is located and accessed by removing the lower panel. The fuse is available at http://aplusapplianceparts.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=3392519
and is easily replaced. There is a picture of the part at above link for easy identification. Use coupon code 1050 for a discount on your order!

Stopped running. Can't start.

You probably have a clogged vent. If the moist air can't vent to outside your dry times would be much longer and the heat would get trapped in the dryer. This probably caused your thermal fuse to fail. Once that fails the dryer won't do anything. The good news is that it should be a fairly inexpensive repair.

Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer wont heat up

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
