Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player
Like Kelt67 said a firmware is needed....Avatar holds a lot of memory on the blu ray disc as that's one reason there are no trailers just strictly the movie and that's it on the blu ray....Avatar works perfectly fine in my PS3 but then my fiance tried watching on a regular Sony blu ray player and it just sits and loads forever....needs a firmware upgrade need to pop the firmware disc in and download by contacting your blu ray manufacture if no ethernet port on your blu ray player.

Try replacing the players flashdrive with a larger one, it worked for me.
The Avatar Blu-Ray disc would not play in my Sony Blu-Ray player, (model BDP-S560) after being on the phone & on-line with Sony for 1 1/2 hrs we finally found the problem. If everything is up to date with your player, i.e. system update, turn player off/on, unplug player etc., the problem turned out to be the "Flashdrive" I'm guessing it was too small or full. It was a 2 GB and I replaced it with a 16 GB, although they told me the min. was a 1 GB but recommended is a 4 GB I decided to throw in some extra space just to play it safe for the future. Thanks Sony

I don't know how to solve your problem. I've got the same problem, only with Avatar. It's very strange, becouse this morning everything was working perfect.

Agreed... first thing to try is a firmware update...

Unable to play BD-R or BD-RE discs in the Blu-ray Disc® (BD) player.
The Blu-ray Disc® (BD) player does not support BD-R and BD-RE discs right out of the box. However, a free firmware update is available that will provide compatibility with BD-R and BD-RE discs recorded in the BDMV format.
If your computer is equipped with a DVD burner and compatible burning software, you can download the update from the Drivers & Software section of the Sony® eSupport Web site and then burn your own update disc on a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc. If you do not have the capability of downloading and burning your own firmware update disc, you can register the BD player online at http://www.productregistration.sony.com/ and a firmware disc will be sent to you automatically; the shipping and receiving time for the disc is approximately 7-10 days via U.S. mail.

Try completing the update.
The update file can be found here http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx
Select bluray disc players
model not listed
type in model number
Then click on search
Click on the instructions and read thme if you need to. If you do not need to read the instructions click on the firmware and save it to your desktop. After the download has completed open the folder and click on extract all files under folder tasks, which should be on the left of the window nearer to the top.
At this time insert a 1, 2 or 4 GB flash drive into your computer. Then in the window click on next if you need to or browse and then my computer and then the icon of the usb device itself. Click on extract or next. When it is done safely remove the usb device from your computer by clicking on safely remove hardware located near the time on the bottom right hand side of the computer monitor.
Click on the usb device and click on stop. Remove it from the computer and place it in the back of the bluray player. Turn the tv and bluray player on as if you were going to view a bluray. There shouldn't be any discs inside. Press the setup button on the bluray remote control. Choose settings. Choose software update. Begin the update. After it is completed turn off the bluray player before removing the usb device.
If the usb device needs to be reformatted or if the zip file folder is placed on the usb device instead of the extracted file the download will not be successful.

You will need a 2GB usb device a.k.a. a flash drive. You will need access to the sharp web site. You can call 800-237-4277 any time between 9AM-7PM CST today or 7AM-7PM tomorrow to be walked through the software update you need from start to finish.
