SOURCE: Brother 4070 CDW Drum Unit Error

The green tabs that you have to slide are under the color cartridges, so remove the three color cartridges and you will see three green tabs, to slide the tab across the wire you have to first open the translucent plastic wire cover, then slide the green tab across the wires and return it to it's original position, close the wire covers, replace the color cartridges, and reassemble the printer. All the Best

Brother MFC-9140CDW displays that I must slide the green tabs on the Drum units to get the printer to print as it jams. Did that -No solution

If the printer is jamming paper there are three things to check/clean. First make sure paper is DRY as is will hold up 16% weight in water from atmosphere. Second - clean the pickup and feed rollers at the end of the paper tray with alcohol to remove dust and oils. Third set all the drum cleaning tabs to side with the triangle. When you have done that try a print or copy. If the sheet jams pull it out backwards slowly and examine the leading edge. This will show where the jam is occuring and then you can trace the paper path to find any foreign objects (paper fragments) and remove them

Machine says drum error and to remove and then slide blue tab back and to several tabs before returning back to machine. Done this but it still says drum error?

This is quite common.

Follow the instructions (like it appears you have), have a look inside the machine for any signs of paper jams, and if that still fails, give the drum a good shake. You can also blow on the metal strip that the blue tab is cleaning.

If all that fails, change the drum.

The printer says drum error, slide the blue tab from side to side, when I have done this the printer works but the repeats the error sign again.

Same problem-
1st- take out drum & toner assembley- with open door - press OPTIONS - then #1 - reinsert
if continues
2nd - I sprayed canned air on the drum wire assemble (where our favorite 'blue' tab slides) the toner builds up; then I gentle wiped the drum in a horizontal direction while manually turning the drum several times.
I reinstalled and like new...

Having replaced cartridge now says drum error, remove drum and slide blue tab. How do you remove drum>

The drum is the piece that holds the toner cartridge. Once you remove it you'll see a pale blue tab at the rear of the drum unit. Slide it side to side a couple of times to clean debris from the drum area.

Paper light keeps blinking and won't print I have paper and it's set as default printer

It keeps blinking because there is a paper jam. Open the front cover and take out the toner/drum and see any jammed paper. Also, you can open the back cover, pull the paper guide down to see the rollers.

If the above does not work, take off the front cover. Pull the tabs on the side. Pull out the toner/cartridge. Look for a blue tab on the top, and you need to slide that from right to left. Put everything back and see if this solves the problem.

I am trying to print several pages and the status button on the printer turns red with an orange light next to the paper option. But when I check the printer there is paper in it and there is nothing...

Press the go button 3 times and it will give you a printout with the latest error codes. If it says clean the drum, you need to run that blue tab on the drum back and forth about 20 times. It also helps to blow out that area where the blue tab is with canned air.

Open the front cover and take out the toner/drum unit. On the top of the drum unit you will see a blut tab that you can slide side to side. Do this 10+ times and this should fix your issue. Make sure to put the blue tab back in the original start position which is believe is to the left on that model.

Dust on Drum...

I had this problem too. I took out the drum and vacuum the drum with a vacuum cleaner ( no brush ) while at the same time manually rotate the drum cyclinder. It worked. After a month or two, you might have to do it again. But everytime, it solved the dust problem.
