Hi, what you are currently experiencing is either a bad keypad as a result of too much usage or a faulty glass ic which in both ways needs to be replaced.
Before that you can first of all try cleaning keypad button interface which may be dirty but if after cleaning, it is still not working, then you carry out my first step..

Take care

What model Uniden Phone are you having trouble dialing?
The more information you provide, the more accurate we can be with our solutions.

I cannot use my key - 5a2119e.jpeg

If if looks like this model, your phone is from the DCT758 series, I do have the manual handy. I could walk you through pairing the phone to the base station, which would account for not being able to dial out, although I am not certain about the 'noises' being a symptom of that problem.

Please check and post your model number if possible.

I hope that helps.

As long as your handset is in privacy mode, other handsets can’t join your call or make any calls of their own: their displays will show UNAVAILABLE.

    1. While on a call, press [Menu/Select].

    2. Select CALL PRIVACY. PRIVACY MODE ON appears in the display for two seconds; 'P' appears and remains in the display until the feature is turned off.
To turn privacy mode off, repeat the procedure listed above. PRIVACY MODE OFF appears.

    Transferring a Call
You can transfer a call from one handset to another. The handsets must be currently connected to the same base.

    1. During a call, press [Clear/Int’com].

    2. Use up or down arrows to select the handset you want to transfer the call to, and then press [Menu/Select]. Select ALL to page all other handsets. The call will automatically be placed on hold, and a paging tone sounds. Tocancel the transfer, press [ /Flash] or [Speaker].

    3. When another handset accepts the transferred call, you will be disconnected. If you want to rejoin the call, press [ /Flash] again or [Speaker].
    _________________________

If your dialing is 'slow and noisy' it may be set to pulse dialing instead of tone dialing; this would make the phone send many clicks instead of tones.

    1. Press [Menu/Select]. Select the GLOBAL SETUP menu, and then the DIAL MODE submenu.

    2. Scroll [up arrow] to highlight TONE.

    3. Press [Menu/Select]. You will hear a confirmation tone.
If the dialling tones are regular, but just too loud for your tastes, adjust the volume of the handset by pressing the down arrow on the handset while on a phone call.

    I hope that helps

Programing Speed dial on Walker W1000 Clarity Phones

I solved my problem by trial and error!

Steps to program speed dial on the Walker/Clarity Model W-1000 Touch Tone Sound Amplifier desk set phone w/large number pad.

1. Choose phone number to program including the (#1) digit for a long distance direct dial if
needed.
Write chosen number(s) on a scratch pad as a guide for numbers. Identify numbers with the
names or contact description (ie."Mom's Cell Phone.")

2. Remove hand set receiver from phone.

3. Press "memory set" button ONCE on the phone located uder the receiver on the desk set.

4. Enter phone number chosen, including area codes and long distance prefixes if needed!

5. Locate the speed dial position button you want for that number...(located adjacent to
tag/pad slot for name and/or phone number to be written after entering.

6. Press the speed dial position button (ONCE). Then replace receiver back in craddle.

7. Try out speed/dial program. Pick up receiver, push speed dial button(position) listen to see if
correct phone number is contacted. Once established as correct; program additional speed dial
numbers: ie family, business, as needed.
8. DO NOT TRY TO PROGRAM THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY 911 NUMBER! Keep this in your
own memory!
9. If you make a mistake while entering a phone number: Stop, Hang up phone and start all over
again in the procedure sequence.

10. Remove white "description pad with slots for names or numbers) from underneath clear
plastic cover.(use a paper clip end to lift up plastic cover). Write name/description for that number
on white pad(ie. "Mom's Cell") Use a PENCIL FOR DESCRIPTIONS!!

11. TO SAVE TIME AND INCONVENIENCE TO PERSONS/BUSINESSES OF HAVING TO
ANSWER YOUR CALLS; CHOOSE A AUTOMATED ANSWERING NUMBER (USUALLY A
BUSINESS ANSWERING AUTOMATED SERVICE (IE. LARGE INSTITUTIONAL PHONE
NUMBER THAT HAS A MENU PROMPT usually a AT&T 800 # will have a prompt menu
USE this procedure to see if you program correctly then once you know how; go back and re-
enter all the numbers that you actually want on your speed dial settings.
