This is a very common error for computers to provide their users. Within the BURNERS settings page, you will need to select the burner PHYSICAL DRIVE that already exists. Once you do this, you will be able to burn again. If you still experience problems, please return so that I may continue assisting you. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you provide me positive feedback, I can continue helping you for free.
there could be 4 things that's wrong that I can think of.
1. try this first, go and force xp to take your updated drivers by telling it to
install from a specific location->don't search. I will choose the
driver to install->have disk->have disk->point it to the
driver's location-> continue and it should install that specific
driver. 2. the software you're using to burn with isn't playing nicely with your drive. try using cdburnerxp which is a free burning software and test the results of those burns. 3. the firmware on your drive is corrupted(happens from time to time). try installing a new firmware from matshita's website. remember, firmware is different from drivers. 4. the dvd drive itself is busted. try using an external drive to burn a dvd(if you have one available) or switch the drive out and see if that fixes things.
after looking at some forums, seems like this drive is ripe with issues but hopefully it's not a hardware issue in your case.
well yeah some files won't burn totally. and that sucks, even when the disc is enough for the file, it really does not burn. like what I downloaded a few moths ago,, I was burning it but when it comes to the very end, it cuts out and telling me too abort the burning. even using windows dvd burner or nero.well i will keep you updated for this matter.
have you tried another burning application, If it works as a normal dvd/cd drive then I cant see any problems with IDE cable config as stated by Bear001, Does Nero 7 reconise the dvd burner, you could look on neros website to see if this is an issue or maybe use version 6, I have had no probs with this version, let me know how you get on and good luck!
