They get hot, just like a regular bulb. It will burn your fingers. Ever see a car's brake lights that have melted through the lens? Hope this helps.

You need to visit a local dealer...any RV dealer. They should provide a general walk through as a courtesy. Pay them for a maintenance inspection and they can provide a detailed explanation of their work. After that you might be able to troubleshoot/repair simple problems yourself.

One of my poer sources is out. How can I fix it??

I am not familiar with your unit but I believe it has 3 12 Kw heaters. I would guess one of them has failed or the relay powering it has.

Need to add electric heating element and thermastate to g6a-6e gas water heater

I don't know how you can drill into aluminum tank and install element.
That seems a good way to ruin the heater.
Why not just buy small 'under counter' 1500 watt electric water heater at local box store and install in-line before the water reaches atwood gas heater.

Otherwise I do not have a solution.
Don't blow yourself up by messing with gas appliance.

I have a G6A-3E heater. didn't work untill I cleaned the terminals on the t,stat It works but shuts off befor the water is hot!

Take a multimeter or 12 volt test light and probe terminals on Therm & ECO for 12 VDC power while running. When it shuts down and wateris not hot, test for voltage again at those terminals, If you have 12 volts to side of therm that goes to ECO beside it, then therm is ok, but then check opposite side of ECO as well. If power on one side of ECO, but not the other, the ECO is faulty. Simply walk across with probe testing for voltage when you find no power at one terminal but not the other, it's faulty, replace it.

We have no hot water, and the DSI light is on. Doesn't work in either electric or gas mode.

I'll need you model number to verify it has electric element, as well as DSI ignition. Does it try to ignite,on propane, as in sparking at electrode? On DSI, the light on usually means it tried to light but failed due to a problem, such as propane not on, or present etc.
Do you have a 12 volt test light or Multimeter?

The direct ignition switch will not light the burner, We have replaced the switch, but it still does not light.

Have you checked for 12 volts DC getting to spark module ? If it's just the 2 wires going to spark module, Red and green, check for 12 volts at the red wire.
If it has the 9 wires on 2 connectors, check for 12 volts at Brown and Orange. If no 12 volts there, then you'll have to go back to switch and check there for 12 volts in and out when switch in on position. Let me know what you find.
