Cant install any boot disk to my new asus sabertooth mb

If you can get into the BIOS then your computer is working. The most likely fault is the HDD settings make sure you try with AHCI selected as well as with any other settings. You don't say if the HDD is showing in the BIOS. Check all of your connections are good and, especially your drive connections. Make sure the Boot priority is Optical drive before HDD.

Good day i have tried to install Win XP on my acer aspire laptop after formatting the HDD on another machine but i cant, the acer did not recognise the HDD. what do i do

Do you have an Xp disk? This is the only way I know of to install Windows Xp without encountering any problems.

You will need the disk; also you need to make sure that the boot options see that you want it to boot from your cd drive. When you start your computer up, get to this screen by hitting the key to enter setup options shortly after hitting the power button. It's where you change your BIOS and other stuff.
This is where you can make sure it recognizes your new HDD and change your boot option to #1-boot from cd drive.

Reply to this if you need more info.

Hope this helps.

Install a second sata hdd to a gigabyte ga-p35-ds3 rev 2.0 motherboard not in a raid array configuration, so I can do a clean install of windows 7 to my new drive and leave xp on my old drive.

ther is no need for a raid array. connect hdd assign priority to the new hdd. install 7 on new hdd,
or
just connect hdd , boot to xp , put windows 7 dvd , instal it on new hdd while u r in xp
if ur new hdd is not detecting just clear c-mos settings

Computer will not boot from hdd. Needs system disk.

The problem wasn't your hard drive, it was your operating system. You need someone who is savvy with computers to use a boot disk and get into your computer to find the problem.

Sorry,

Troubling in sata connection

  • I suppose there is a jumper(beside the power pin) on your new HDD,
  • if its true the your HDD supports 3GB/s mode but your motherboard does not .
  • So place the jumper on the HDD on 1.5GB/s combination.
then
  • Disconnect the 80 GB,
  • Connect the new HDD,
  • Boot from any bootable xp or vista or any disk tool like erd commander and try to format the new HDD.
  • Then connect the new HDD and boot from it.
Tell me what happened.

Replaced hdd on emachine w3615,light on mobo but it wont come on.

Hi ipackrat21, that little green led you see is telling you the motherboard has standby power. (Its supposed to be green & on).
Make sure the hdd jumper is set to, master without a slave). In a one hdd system.
When you replaced the hdd you also need to enter the bios menu.
In the bios you'll need to make some changes. First you should see the new hdd listed in the bios. (Normally it list the hdd by model). If your hdd is shown than go to the title "BOOT". You need to set the boot order. A normal boot order would list like so;
First boot device, Floppy disk drive".
Second boot device, "CR-ROM" drive.
Third boot device, "Your new hdd".
If your bios does not see your hdd you'll need to re-check the data cable from the board to the drive. (Make sure it is fully connected).
If the drive is an IDE/PATA make sure it has power. A 4-pin molex.

Still have trouble, post it here.

Error message when I openmy computer:

-Take a look in your BIOS console to see if your primary boot device is connected and shown in the list.

-if yes then, bootsector on primary boot device is missing, and you might have to connect this HDD to a different computer and back your data up, and then connect it back to your computer and run the windows recovery. make sure you scan for bad sectors after your system is up and running.

-if no, then shut your computer off and groud yourself and take all the precautions for static and open the cabinet and make sure that your primary boot disk is securely connected to the motherboard and power connector is firmly connected to it (you can try switching the cables to see if its an issue with the cables, motherboard ports or power supply)

hope this helps you to pin point the issue..
