SOURCE: Pictures with horizontal lines
I'm assuming the horizontal lines you're gtting are dark lines, not white omission lines and you are not currently using a cartridge that is leaking (otherwise, this solution is not appropriate). I had the same problem, and after a good deal of frustrating experimentation, found that the problem was caused by the cartridges picking up and retaining ink left on the little absorption pads where they rest. Normally, the pads should accomplish just the opposite effect, but it seems that after a certain amount of use (especially if you've ever had a defective, leaky cartridge), the pads just get too full. As the cartridge moves horizontally across your paper, ink picked up from these pads literally drips on your print. Could appear as lines and also as small smudge dots at the lengthwise travel stops where the cartridge travel reverses.
I could see that it would be fairly easy to remove the pads and either clean or replace them if I were to disassemble the housing of the printer. If you wish to do a really thorough job and you feel confident in your reassembly ability, go for it. I chose a quicker approach and it's solved the problem for the past two months: Open the lid and wait for the cartridges to move over to the left (cartridge replacement position). Then, pull the plug on your printer (or they will move back to the right after a few minutes). Use a small flashlight to locate the two absorbent pads over on the right, where the cartridges normally rest. With paper towels or any other absorbent disposable, blot those pads over and over until you get little or no ink on your paper towel. While you're at it, give the whole area under the lid a decent but gentle cleaning using a soft cloth or swab. Might take a couple of prints to completely eliminate the lines, since you won't be able to clean the underside of the cartridge carrier assembly this way, but this should solve your problem
