If you have already put your computer together and installed the OS and everything and then you go out and buy more RAM do you have to reinstall the OS and everything or do you just put it in and it loads up with the extra RAM?

Hi,

No you donot need to install the OS if you want to add more RAM or replace it . You simply plug it in and it loads up and will show you the updated one in BIOS and also later in Control Panel.

Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

I've got a stupid question. If my memory or RAM is

If you replaced the faulty ram with the same name brand and/or same specs. you should not need to reinstall anything unless the old ram corrupted the OS file system, or the files in those programs. Now sometimes when you replace faulty parts with newer ones or i should say upgraded parts,(like faster ram or cpu),some of microsoft OS's will make you reinstall the whole OS and then your programs, because it will blue screen when trying to boot into the OS,But there are ways around that too.If you need a fix to repair install just let me know what os your using.

I just took apart my computer and put everything back together again but i get no display when i turn the computer on.

A common problem when putting a computer together is assembling the hardware in an incorrect order. 1. Install your CPU and fan 2. Install your RAM 3. Install the graphics unit 4. The order of the other components does not matter. 5. Connect power to all components and boot up.

What is the step by step process in installing a RAM module into an Intel D845GBV motherboard?

1)Shut the computer off and remove the plug in for the Powersupply.
2)Open the case
3)Locate the RAM location. It should be behind the processor and should have a white tab on the end.
4)Depress the white tab on each end which should allow you to remove the RAM. If you are installing make sure they are depressed and push the RAM into place. It should only fit in one direction due to the notches in the RAM itself. After putting them in place push the tabs on the side back up if they have not already latched into place.
5)Then put everything back together and put the case back on.
6)Plug back in and enjoy.

I jus bought a TI-84. when i turned it on it said RAM cleared. now there's a blinker on the screen. every time i press a button, nothing happens. whats wrong with this brad new calculator

You need to re-install or, update the Ti 84 Plus OS. Since you just bought the calculator it is unusual that it is already to that point of clearing the RAM. You can connect a computer and your Ti 84 calculator together once you downloaded and, installed Ti Connect software on the computer. That way you can use the Ti OS Downloader that comes with Ti Connect software to install the newest Ti 84 Plus OS. Or, if you have a friend that has a Ti 84 Plus or, Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition you can connect the two calculators together through the IO link ports and, they can send you a copy of their OS while you receive it on your Ti 84.

Get this problem fixed as quick as you can. You do not want your OS to fail any more than what it already has. If you can not find another calculator to connect too, then you can connect through your computer. You may have a long road ahead of you getting the Ti Connect software and, drivers working right. Just remember to come back to your posting here and, post a comment of what ever is failing. This will notify me right away and, I'll walk you though it if necessary.

I upgraded my hp pavilion zd8000 to 2GB of ram. When I try to load windows XP, I get a can not format disk error. I removed 1 GB of memory and added 250 K in it?s place and everything installs and runs OK....

what service pack are you running ? if you have service pack 3 installed you can not reinstall the OS period , you'll have
to remove the service pack 3 and go back to service pack 2
ram and the HDD don't have any connection with the OS
you can try switching out the ram to another computer for
testing and for checking the DIMM slots on your computer
if its a notebook there will be only 2 slots if its a PC you may
have 4 check your manual for 1234 configuration they never
go as 1234 its usually 1324 , windows XP 32 bit edition will only
hold 3072 MB of Ram while the 64 bit edition will hold up to 8
gigabytes .

About my ram of p4m800-m7 rev 3.1 i have a 512mb ram already installed and i buy a new ram with a 1gb size and i would like to install it but my question is is it okay to put them together? my 512mb ram is...

The black rectangular chips on the side, or sides, of the ram module are DRAM chips. Dynamic Random Access Memory.

('Chip' is slang term to denote IC, or Integrated Circuit)

Each Dram chip is of a specific size, (or can be said as Amount)
There are manufacturers who make the Dram chips, and then the chips are used by the ram memory manufacturer.

Doesn't matter how the Dram chips are arranged. The ram memory manufacturer could put them all of one side, if they designed it that way.

1.Your motherboard will support, (Use), DDR at 333Mhz, or DDR at 400MegaHertz.
(PC2700 and PC3200, respectively)

2.The ram memory module must use 2.5 Volts.
(JEDEC has set the voltage standard for DDR Sdram at 2.5 Volts, so no worries here. Only time to check this, is if you have some High performance ram, that may be set to use a higher voltage)

3.It must be Non-ECC ram, and Unbuffered.

4.Cas Latency should be 2.5 to 3.0 (Ram Timings)

Short solution?

Computer off, and unplugged from power. TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case to relieve your body of Static.

Handle the ram 'sticks' by the body of the stick, and refrain from touching the gold plated contact pins, on the bottom.

If the 512MB stick is in SLOT 1, remove it. Install the 1GB stick in Slot 1. Make SURE it is seated!

(Slot 1, is the ram memory slot that is closest to the Processor. It is the first ram memory slot that the Processor reads)

Leave the computer case open. (Refrain from putting your hands in while the computer is plugged into power)

Plug the computer into power. Wait 30 seconds. Turn the computer on.

Computer boots up? (Starts)
Okay.
Unplug from power. Install the 512MB stick in Slot 2.
Plug into power, wait 30 seconds. Turn the computer on.
Computer boots up?
You're good to go.

1GB ram memory stick is in Slot 1, and the computer does not boot up?
Incompatible ram memory. Remove it. Reinstall the original 512MB stick in Slot 1.

The new RAM module could be faulty or the second memory slot is faulty.
Try removing the original 1Gb memory module and inserting the new memory module in its place to see if the computer boots up normally. If it doesn't then then new memory module is faulty.

If you are running a 32bit OPERATING SYSTEM it won't recognize but I gig.Only if you install a 64bit OS will it see the 2 gigs of ram.Thats why it shows up in the BIOS and not in your OS.If you do have a 64bit OS already then your OS should read the 2gigs.

Wont reinstall OS (error message during installation)

I had a very similar problem when trying to install the new OS. The way I got it working was

1. make sure you have fresh batteries in.
2. Find a new computer which you have not used neither TI connect nor the calculator on.
3. Download the OS to this computer from Ti´s webpage
4. Install Ti connect and the calculator on this machine 100 % correct! (check other help files for this)
5. Go into Ti connect, and it should find the calculator now.
6. Use the "device explorer" and then the "OS downloader" directing the downloader to the path where you have already downloaded the OS to the computer.

I hope this helps you out...
