Screen is black but camera seems to work fine otherwise

For this problem, you can have it fixed at: www.camerasandparts.com They're wonderful for fixing Canons and they have your problem right on the site. Plus, since you have a G7, you benefit as they include the no power correction (common problem) to all G7 and G9 cameras they work on. It will cost you $89 for everything, service for the camera comes included with them too. Hope that helps to get you in the right direction with it, that's a great camera to not be able to have working.

Does it work.....

Hello!

Please, make sure your camera is installed:
  1. Start>right click Computer>Manage>Device Manager
  2. Try to find your camera in the list of drivers.
  • If not there, it is not installed, so in that case go to this link: http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=14382 and download the driver (right bottom of the page>quick links>download driver)
  • If there, check if it is marked with yellow triangle: if yes, right click on it and Uninstall, then restart computer and install the camera using the downloaded driver: double click on the driver, and Run>Allow/Continue>plug in the camera if prompted. When installation is done, unplug the camera and restart computer.
3. If you only want to check is your camera works properly: follow the steps from 1., find the camera in the list of drivers, right click on it>Properties>General tab and you will see the information. If you find the camera is not working properly, uninstall it like in 2.b., restart and reinstall the camera following steps provided in 2.b.

Regards!

Even with new baterries the camras turns on momenterily then turns right off.

I had the same problem with my camera. What I did was turn it on and grab the outside of the lens so that it did not retract. I then turned it off and then on again and it worked hust find. It seemed that something in the retraction and turn off process was out of sync. My camera works just fine now.

See the "Your Problem:" above, the package hasn't worked.

sounds like its not installing the drivers right click start menu button, right click computer, click manage go to device manager and see if the camera drivers are installed right, with the camera plugged in if not keep the camera plugged in stick the cd in, right click on the camera in the device manager and click update click browse my computer and select the cd that came with your camera now it should have the right drivers and it should work

At power on, lens comes out then goes in/out tehn told to restart

intialize camera first. press the playback or review button while camera is turned off. then go to menu, go right to setup, press right arrow on setup, go down to setup1, press right arrow, highlight initialize, press right arrow, select ok with the middle button. if this does not work, try removing battery for 30 seconds then reinsert it. if these steps would not resolve issue then camera needs service. www.sony.com/repair.

Camera self- diagnostic doesn't work

I had this exact problem when I had not used my camera for some time. For me the solution was to take out the flash card, and turn on the camera while pressing the flash button. This allowed me to run the self diagnostic test (which were ok by the way), and then after turning the camera off and on again it worked!
