I seem to have done exactly the same thing as you, resetting all my settings. In my case, there remain a couple of outstanding issues that I have not been able to resolve:
1.The width mode is missing in TV
2.I am unable to control vertical convergence on the outskirts of the wide screen.
I'd appreciate any advice on what solved your width button problem and if you had the convergence issue as well.

you may want to download a free manual for your exact model.
All Mitsubishi sets have 3 hidden menus:
Option Menu: used mainly for a hard reset of the set.
Circuit Adjust Menu : which will have height, width, CENTERING adjustments and many others.
Convergence adjust Menu: same as in customer menu but allows save of adjustments made.
Entry into each menu is done with the original remote and a 4 digit number code.
The reason you would want the manual is it will tell you what buttons on the remote do what once you get into the (in your case) circuit adjust menu.
Some buttons will allow you to scroll the items and others to adjust them; note also on screen will be numbers indicating the current setting of each item usually with numbers. You want that so you can if you try to center picture left or right to know what original setting was in case adjusting does not help.
I have the codes for all three but confirm actual model number and get the manual so you know in your model what remote buttons do what.
Both the TV and the Cable box have Aspect(height/width) settings. You must confirme the setting on the cable box and then do the TV.
1. Set TV to Native, this should show image exactly as the cable box sends it.
2. change Aspect settings on the cable box until you get one that works
3. if you get a good one, then your OK. You will just need to find a setting between the 2 devices that work for you. Also, these settings may change automatically for the TV or cable box based on the channel
I would love to know the original problem, and what you did exactly so far. If you change any data I suggest you write down the original numbers, or the set may become unfixable. If you check the data use the 4 key to start at the bottom and confirm that the ID codes are correct for this model. (ID1 = ID2 = ect)
You can download the complete Sony manual with this link I made, and open it with any Adobe PDF viewer.
With TV off, enter the following on your remote:
Display > 5 > Volume + > Power
now you are in service mode
2 & 5 will take you up and down categories
1 & 4 will take you up and down settings within categories
3 & 6 will change the data up or down
So press 2 until you come to the 2170D_2 category
Press 1 until you get to HSIZ and change the data down to the required setting (different data registers for different width settings)
It could be more involved but this might do the trick in your case. Good luck!
Verify your LCD Display Print Width setting is set wider than your actual label width. The printer will only print to the width of the PRINT WIDTH setting. Also verify any driver or software settings as these override your printer settings.
