Question about Kodak EasyShare C913 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Thought camera lost; found months later. Only thing showing on screen is cracks as though rock had been thrown through a window. Tried new batteries but that did not change anything. Help! The lens and view screen are NOT broken or cracked. Nothing seems to be 'broken' but camera is not usable as nothing but the jagged crack comes up on the view screne when camera is turned 'on'.

After camera is turned 'on', I am unable to take a new photo or review/delete other photos. It is as though the 'jagged/broken glass image' is the only thing in memory. Does this put the problem more into the 'LCD' option?

As an amateur with camera, found your response helpful and informative. Clear and concise. Will probably trek to store specializing in cameras to make sure this machine is not subject to recall. If no recall, probably will replace camera. Thank you for your assistance. --Pat

Hi,

There could be 2 Reasons :-

1. Bad CCD Sensor
2. Bad Panel

To Differentiate, Try to Look the Saved images or the Saved Video's. If you could see them without any Problem, CCD Sensor is at Fault. If you are Facing same Problem with Saved images / Video's , it would be Faulty LCD Panel.

If that is LCD Panel, it is a Costly Affair. The Cost of Repair would be quite high relevant to the Cost of the New Camera.

If that is CCD Sensor, there we Certain Recalls. You could Check if there is any Recall.

One of the Best Articles, i have seen :-

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

Yes,if the Problem remains same with the Saved Video's or images, it is probably Faulty LCD Panel. Dust, Dirt, Non Usage are Few of the reasons for the same. As you mentioned that you Found it After 4 Months, my First reaction would be a Faulty LCD Panel.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks

Battery

Might be the camera's battery terminals, not the battery itself. Take a qtip and some isopropyl aclohol and clean the terminals in the battery well of camera.

Flip Ultra - freezes at initial Flip screen - will not shut off

I found a fix that worked for mine.
It was doing the same thing, freezing at the "Flip" screen and would not turn off. I did the remove the batteries deal. It worked once but issue reoccured 2 months later and the battery fix didn't fix it.
What did fix it was...
With the camera off, hold down the Right Arrow button and the trash can button at the same time and turn the camera on.
A few seconds later, I was at the start recording screen!!

Good Luck!

With new batteries already put in--no power

Are you using rechargeable batteries, and have tried lots of different batteries? Also, sometimes rechargeable batteries fresh out of the package can be dead or have very little juice. Just a thought...Hard to say that's it though if you were having the same thing happen before...

View window is black

There is a temporary fix that works sometimes but eventually it will stop working alltogether. If canon can't help, might try this:

Siren Edge 4 gig Boot error,

Siren's software support is bad, but you can call them: 254.224.0222

Sometimes reformatting a player can cause key system files to be lost - this particular mp3 player does not have a recovery tool or a firmware upgrade that I know of, so you can try the Windows Recovery Method: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
Let me know how it turns out.

Olympus Stylus 730 Digital - Won't work 60 days old

I'm having the exact same problem. I was in the middle of zooming on a shot and it froze, so I turned the camera off and on, and now I get the 5-chimes+Zoom Error screen. This is nuts, I've only had the thing for six months, and it was $250 (got the Stylus 730). I *think* I got a replacement plan so that's good. But still... I hope circuit city lets me get a different brand b/c I'm not happy with this now. The only problem I had before was the HORRID shutter delay. I want a model that doesn't have that problem .

Screen is blank

You tell me that you tried new batteries. Have you tried a set of NiMH batteries? They are the best for digital cameras. Please try a set, preferably ones rated 2200 or higher. If this doesn't help, the lens could be jammed. Hang onto the batteries though, because they are rechargeable and can be used in anything that takes AA batteries.

Blank Screen and faulty shutter blades

I found out the hard way that you should never use alkaline batteries in a Digital Camera. I thought my camera had a fundamental flaw (power kept going off whenever I tried to take a photo or record a video and the shutter blades half closed) even though it was only 2 months old. I nearly wrote it off but all along the problem was that I was using alkaline batteries, which incidentally were enclosed with the camera in the box!! Once I switched to NiMH (Nickel) batteries the camera worked fine and the fault completely vanished! These NiMH batteries are avaiable in most electrical shops i.e currys/comet in the UK. They must be charged before use. They are more expensive than alkaline batteries (£8-£9 for 4) but as they are rechargable they last a long time.
