Hi,

You need to purchase DDR SDRAM - 266 MHz for your laptop (up to 1GB).

I have a Toshiba portege M 800 , on powering one long beep followed by two short beeps initiates the hard disc but then stalls . Replaced with brand new Ram but problem still persists . If its a Graphics...

Hi there,

1 long 2 short is almost always video/RAM related, if you've replaced the RAM, the it's most likely the mainboard that the RAM connects to.

Unfortunately the portege's always have very expensive replacement parts, you're probably looking at about $300 for a new board and then whoever you buy it from will add a large markup. Be careful buying boards for Toshiba's off of ebay as they quite often use variations on the same board for multiple models. You'll find a large model number on the bottom of the machine starting with PS this will help you track down a board if you want to.

I would reccomend a new computer.

Thanks,

Liam.

Graphic card

RAM can be located under the keyboard, or more commonly on the back will be a small panel with a picture of ram on it. The graphics or GPU is soldered on to the motherboard in most laptops and isn't replaceable. You would either need to buy a new motherboard $150-400 in most computers and replace it or buy a new computer.

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

I have a » HP Pavilion Dv4000 Notebook PC, Needs some Q&A

your graphics are integrated and replacing the graphics would be a nightmare.
As for your RAM, yes this is the correct product to purchase and it is easy for you to install.
the maximum amount of RAM your laptop can hold is 2Gb (2x1Gb).

Hope this helps

Need to know which motherboard i have

When you buy a notebook, you generally get a proprietary motherboard. You can't simply buy a new, different motherboard and upgrade notebooks like you can with desktops or tower pcs. If you have a problem that requires changing the motherboard, you have to buy the exact same one.

You will probably want to try to salvage the CPU, RAM, and video card if you do buy a replacement.

Upgrading my Ram

vista needs 40mb to install ...no matter how much mem you install vista is slow compared to xp or xp pro which configuered right can run at lightening speeds.
to upgrade mem ...
you either have 2 512mem cards or 1 1024 card ...if you have 1 1024 card add another if you have 2 512 replace with 2 1024.
you can buy mem cards in any pc shop.

Hp dv5000 problem

ill suggest o you like many technician do when they messed around their workstation...
if that what you have done is similar to a desktop replacement of ram probably you just knocked out some of the components inside...

first thing check the specs of your old ram and compare it to your new ram... its not just buying the higher capacity but also considering the type of ram you are buying... you can't just put oddly different rams to replace the old one just because its has higher capacity... go to the store where you bought the new ram and show them your old ram for an assistance, hopefully the guy selling the ram knows what type of ram you really need (they should ask you that on the first place).

if the two rams you bought are similar to each other then you save your time going back to the shop where you bought the new ram... just open your system and make sure everything sets firm and if you can just the ram out and get a brush.... brush the dirt out of the connectors and use an eraser to your ram and erase the contact points...

if this helps just rate me to give thanks ok...
