It is hard, but you just have to stretch the belt to go over that pulley.

How to tighten pulley on Hoover U6630-900

I'm not sure what you mean by "Common Pulley". There is a flat belt that goes from the motor shaft to the big round pulley on the transmission. There is also a "V" belt that goes from the transmission to the brush roll. You have to be careful how you install the "V" belt because it has a pulley that takes the slack out of the belt when you pull the handle back if you have the lever in "Carpet" position. The belt does not get tight until you pull the handle back which leads many people to believe the belt is too long or the pulley is not working properly.

How do I replace the smaller belt that attaches to the brush

Hello! Follow the steps below to replace the v-belt on your Hoover.

1. Slide flat belt off large pulley.
2. To remove v-belt, slide back of belt over pulley. Then firmly pull on belt and snap it off. Discard used belt.
3. To install new belt (with lettering on outside of belt) slide back of belt over pulley and pull front of belt toward groove next to pulley. Belt will pop into place.
4. Insert brush-roll through belt and position belt in groove on brush-roll.

I have a hoover windtunnel turbo power 8000 self propelled model u6660-900. I bought a agitator belt for it that says it's the correct one ( belt #38528-034) according to several websites. But for some...

The belt is correct. You idler pulley is most likely hung up. Look half way between the brushroll and the drive pulley ( that's what the belt wraps around ) there is an idler pulley that puts pressure on the backside of the belt. They are prone to hanging up. A qualified vacuum repair shop can take care of this for you if you can't figure it out.

How to install leather belt on Singer treadle sewing machine?

The belt is a round leather belt and is joined by a wire staple. It passes over the pulley on the hand wheel, down through the slot in the table and a slotted plate goes into the table slot with the belt in the plate slot. The belt is than placed against the big pulley, turn the pulley and a lip on the pulley will pick up the belt and feed it into the groove of the pulley - that's it! (If the belt is too long, cut it to the correct length, pierce a new hole in it and feed the staple into the hole).

Installing a belt

1. Unplug the vacuum
2. Take the bottom cover over the brush off by removing the 3 screws
3. Switch the brush roll control lever to bare floor
4. Take the roller brush out
5. Put the belt around the small pulley from the motor
6. As you are putting the roller brush back in put the belt around the space on the roller brush - center the belt on that space - THE BELT WILL NOT BE TIGHT BUT THAT'S NORMAL
7. Reinstall the bottom cover with the 3 screws

THE BELT DOES NOT GO AROUND THE SILVER PULLEY CONNECTED TO THE BRUSH ROLL CONTROL LEVER

Need drive belt

I'm guessing you have a hoover self propel windtunnel. If that is the case then you should bought the V belt suffix 034 and Flat belt suffix 035. The belt numbers should be listed on the serial tag though.

With most hoover two belt systems there is a pulley that is supposed engage when you recline the machine and this will apply tension to the V belt and tighten the system up so that the brush will spin. If you hold it upside down with the bottom plate off, and release the foot pedal, you should be able to see it happen.

Occasionally that pulley gets stuck and on some newer models they are prone to breaking as well.

Make sure the machine isn't set to floors.

Good Luck

Put on belt

Take the nozzle of, remove the brush roll, put the new belt over the brush roll, re-install and put the bottom plate on, making sure that the belt is in the middle of the brush roll. Turn the big knob on the front until it locks, when it grabs the belt it will be hard to turn. Re-install the nozzle on the machine and lock it down. Turn the knob again all of the way, this will release the belt unto the pulley.

My belt broke on my kirby upright, I took the roller off and put the new belt on, but I cant get the hook to hook on the belt.

On the front of the nozzle is a big knob that you turn to load the belt. Take the nozzle of of the vac, turn the knob to catch the belt, keep turning it until it stops. You will know if the it caught the belt, it will be hard to turn. Put the nozzle back on, lock, then turn the knob in the other direction releasing the belt unto the pulley.

Take the noozle off of the vac. take out the brush roll and old belt, put the belt over the brush roll and re-instal in the noozle. Turn the big square knob on the front os far as you can, it will lock in that position, then put it back on the vac and lock it down, then turn the knob the other way to release the belt unto the belt pulley.
