If you didn't get a disk then there should be a partition on your C drive containing the restoration to original configuration data. Consult your manual on how to restore your system from that partition (probably have to tap a key like the "C" key on boot to access the restoration partition). As far as I know no current computers come with OS disks.

Good luck

One of the common problems but can fix it.

Clear the temp files first.
1.Goto Run prompt ( press windows logo button and R button together)
type %temp% and hit enter
delete all files

If you don't have a disk you can probably find one on the net or borrow one..
Start your computer press F11 start from the cdrom with disk in and press r for repair when prompt

You can also take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer as a second drive and run that computers command prompt.. Type CHKDSK (Your Drive: ) /F /R... on ..Example mine says CHKDSK D: /F /R press enter type Y for yes and enter don't turn off the computer.. when it is finished type EXIT and put HDD back in the another computer and start it

well im sure since your on the net now your computer doesnt have a connection problem i would try downloading new java and other related updates i would also recheck your system requirements because sometimes if your requirements and the lowest needed its too much for the computer to play with other players on the net (overloading) and is none of the above check your core temp (cpu fan) in your bios .. google it .. and google normal temps to see if your temp it healthy(considered bigger fans)... remove old files that can slow down the computer and go to start>allprograms>acessories>disk clean up let it run and then disk defragment... you should see a slight change in your computer performance.. and if all else fails call your internet provider to help establish connection issues

I have a Maxtor Personal Storage 3100 80 GB Hard Drive which has always worked and listed as drive G. However, on eday it just stopped listing drive G. Everytime I connect it to my port hub or to the...

Try a different "data" cable between your computer and the external disk-drive.

If there is an external power-supply, borrow a "multimeter", and test that the power-supply is supplying power (correct voltage and correct amperage).

Try connecting it to another computer.

Disassemble it, and disconnect the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter. Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, and see if the disk is working.

If it still is under warranty, either your local retail store, or Maxtor/Seagate will honour the warranty, and replace it.

Black screen + mouse cursor, no access to explorer.

Windows needs to be reinstalled or repaired. Obtain a XP or Vista repair or installation disk (possibly borrow from a friend?) and run a repair installation. If you have another computer running windows you can make an installation disk from that computer.

No connection to internet

First thing you need is to run the set up disk that you should have received when you purchased modem. It should run you through the steps. This should also allow you to set up your wireless connection also. It should also provide you the access code for your wireless security. Basically what this does is prevent unauthorized access to your network. Whenever you add additional computers you will need to set up each individually and enter access codes. If you don't have a disk you might need to contact manufacturer to get a replacement disk. Good luck.
