The internal 'thermal' fuse may have blown. This fuse is on the back of the dryer, behind the panel. just to the left side of the vent outlet. It is white with 2 wires going to it.

This fuse trips if there is too much heat around the vent, usually caused by an over heating operating thermostat, which is right next to the thermal fuse and is black with either 2 or 4 wires going to it. The other thing that can cause it too get too hot is a restricted vent system, make sure you have good air flow all the way outside.

The fuse is white about 1/2 inch wide and 1 1/2 inch long.. we think.. not a normal looking fuse. There is one screw holding it on, and you kind of have to slide it up and out.

My Kenmore 400 series electric dryer stopped working halfway through cycle, as if power tripped. There is however power into the dryer. What could be the reason? Did the cycle selector/timer blow?

It might very well be the dryer overheated. Look for blocked vent to outside(snow and such) lint and any other thing that could be causing an overheat situation. Next check the filter housing for blockage. then check the fuse. The fuse on these dryers is mounted on the blower housing near the exhaust and is right next to the control thermostat in most cases. My kenmore 400 series dryer will not start. It has electricity the inside light comes on when I open the door. I push the start button and nothing happens.

There is a thermocouple on the inside that prevents the dryer from getting too hot. If this burns out this opens the circuit so the dryer will not work but all other functions will work.

29'' Kenmore electric dryer series 110 not heating up

Check the following to address this issue.(Most common issue will be a burned out thermal fuse.)

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Dryer Stopped Heating

Use a multimeter to check the heating element. You can't always go by looks. Check continuity and if there is none, the element is defective. Another thing to check is the thermal fuse. It is about an inch long and is usually attached to the exhaust duct. Use the meter to check it as well and if defective, replace it. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Kenmore 70 series stopped in middle of drying and won't work now

If your dryer is not getting power there are some things that can cause this problem,
No house power supply going to the dryer,it could be a tripped breaker or blown fuse depending on which kind of electrical panel you have.
A bad or defective door switch, if the door switch does'nt work the dryer will not run.
The power cord connected to the dryer could have a Broken or burned connection at the dryers teriminal block.
If the thermal fuse is blown the dryer will not dry or it may not work at all.
If the timer is bad you might have to call a appliance repair man.
