Nothing but a blue screen

I turned my tv off and when i turned it back on all i can see is a blue screen with bowed lines on it. you can see a faint picture in the background and the audio works but can barely make out what is on. Every once and a while the tv will shut its self off. did i blow a fuze? Is it even worth getting it fixed?

Good day.

No fuse was blown in this case. It has something to do with the filter capacitor along the screen supply to your crt circuit.
Have it checked by the repairmen since the problem is internal.

Faint lines show up when i get dark screens in movies

First check what color of faint lines comes then reduce Screen Volts in TV of that CRT (tube)
Take off lower front cover, speaker grille of TV, there you will see focus control block that has 6 control knobs, upper 3 knobs are focus adjustment of red-green-blue CRTs and lower 3 knobs are screen volt controls for red-green-blue CRTs. Turn screen volt control knob CCW to reduce screen volts of desired CRT.
Put TV on any free AV input so screen will be dark enough to adjust screen volts.
Thanks.

Blue bow on screen no sound

The blue CRT (picture tube is bad) These TVs were a real problem. Picture tubes began failing in these sets within 2 years of use. Sony warranted some of these TVs for a short while but has since abandoned their customers so they could build defective LCD projectors which are now the subject of a class action lawsuit.

Kick it to the curb and start lookin' for a new one.

I have a line that goes from the top to the bottom of the screen, when on the blue screen I can see it well, but when watching tv you can see a faint yelloe line in the same place. (right side of screen)

I have a toshiba plasma 1080p thats all I know, I see the line the clearest on the blue screen, you know when you change to an imput that has nothing using it, and when watching tv or games a very faint yellow line you gotta really focus on to see. But I wanna make sure this is not gonna get worse. Thanks for your response let me know.

Tv is messed up

I got a question.

Do you have any stereo speakers anywhere near your television?

This sounds like something a magnetic field could cause from speakers being too close to the tv.

If so try to relocate them and see if the problem goes away.

DELL 42" High Definition HD Plasma TV wi4201c hd

There are no real user serviceable parts in that TV. You could take it to a Repair shop and get an estimate for repair, but it is likely that you might end up getting a replacement for a lower cost. Most TV shops have a checkout fee ($25 to $75) generally. If the screen itself is not bad, then the repair cost shouldn't be too high (Logic board or such)

Curved blue lines on screen.

You have a completely different problem. The screen voltage for the blue picture tube is slightly too high on your set. This will put fine lines in the background of the picture, called retrace lines. This is very common and easy to correct. Remove the front speaker cover and the access panel behind it. Look inside and you will see a black box with six controls, each control having a little white glue on it. This is the Focus/Screen block. Three controls are labeled Focus and three are labeled Screen. The screen control in the center is for green but I am not sure if the screen control on the left or right is for blue for your model. With the TV on, set it to VIDEO 1 but do not connect anything to the VIDEO 1 jacks. This will produce a pure dark picture, showing any faint lines in the background. Choose one of the screen controls and increase (turn clockwise) it slightly. If the blue lines do not get brighter it means you are turning the red screen control, so put it back where it was and choose the other screen control. When you find the blue screen control, decrease (turn counter-clockwise) it until just when the blue lines are gone. If you want you can check that the red and green screen controls are set to just below the point where their faint lines are visible. When done, replace the panels and your picture will be back to perfect.

Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
