Pls help, when I boot up, it turns on, with a black screen, you can see the cursor blinking but that is as far as it goes. If you hit ESC quickly you can read "device lock". I have removed HDD and DVD ROM, still no luck!

Do you see the cursor blinking in the black screen? Try booting to safe mode. Restart your computer and tap F8 until you see the options to boot to safe mode. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and hit enter. Once you are inside safe mode, install RadarSync and scan your computer with it then update the outdated drivers.
First, try and boot into safe mode by powering off your computer then powering it back on and tapping the f8 key, after that you should see safe mode and other options below it, click the first option which is safe mode, then go into your start menu and go to your system restore which in Windows 7 and Vista is located in accessories and then system tools, then choose a restore point earlier than the date you are on. This is a temporary fix and you will need to get a virus removal done asap. Hope this helps.
try to unplug any device connected to your computer except for the charger then shut it down then turn it on..then if it is fully on then that is the time you can plug back in the devices that was plugged in before
this problem occurs when while booting some USB mass storage device is connected with the laptop so disconnect devices like printers or flash drive while booting and you can also do this by a setting in BIOS to stop booting from flash drive
As far as the rebooting is concerned id check the bios boot order make sure it can see the HDD. You normally recieve that blinking cursor when it cant find the HDD or boot device.
Also have you tried using hte restore cd's It's a bit of a last resort effort but my guess is your HDD is dead if you attempt to run the Restore CD's and they fail it pretty much means its the HDD.
The cracking noises will be from the speaker wires either loose or touching something else causing a static type effect. Fix is to adjust wires possibly replace them. Not easy to do by yourself. Unlikely that the speakers are affecting the reboot though.
Other possibility is a faulty mainboard capacitors that will definatley rebooting to occur.
Let me know how you go with the bios and restore discs or if you need further help.
Often, this indicates that the laptop could not find its default boot device which would be your hard drive. Pls enter the BIOS/CMOS setup and determine if your laptop can auto detect the hard disk. If detectable, save and exit, if not the drive may require replacement.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
