Likely has a slipping belt , it will smoke before too long,
unless something got between the drum and door and is scratching .

Bravos mct Dryer Loud Screeching sound upon startup ModelMEDB850WQ0

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
  2. Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
  3. Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.

My maytag neptune dryer mdg5500aww is making a screeching sound. It is drying the clothes but it is getting louder by the day. What part needs to be replaced?

There are 2 wheels in the rear that the drum rotates on - one could be binding. The tensioner has a wheel, check it for rotation. Belt slipping? Check motor for operation - check that plastic blower isn't rubbing in its box. Dryers are easy to disassemble - check YouTube for procedure.

Maytag Legacy series dryer making loud noise. Sounds like something flapping.

A common problem on these dryers is the blower wheel itself will wobble out and make noises. Pop the top with a putty knife then remove the front panel. Check the blower housing for looseness.or something in it. I worked on a monkey wards dryer with a bad blower wheel and made crappy movie on my phone:

I have a Maytag Atlantis Dryer Model MDE6400AYW - it is making a loud screeching noise which seems to be coming from the rear of the dryer. I have unplugged it and removed all the lint from every possible...

If you remove the screws from the lint trap shute, unscrew the 2 screws on the back side of the control panel, on the outer back, and take a flathead screwdrivew or putty knife to the front corners of the lid, you can pop the tabs and lift the top to remove the front of the dryer, to access the drum and motor.
