Location serial number

I have usually found the s/n inside the topt door. Open the lid and look for a sticker around the rim, often front left. Next favorite hiding place: On the back of the rear panel, somewhere near power cord or water hose inlet. Another location: On the fame under the lower front panel if you have one. Try the easiest place first. If you are desperate, find you original sales slip from the dealer - it might be on the paperwork. I keep all of mine in a plastic envelope and tape it to the side of the machine. Try this also: The Samurai Appliance Repair Academy

How do you open the door(of a kenmore front loading washing machine) after a load of laundry is done and the door stays locked?

HI. i have posted a procedure that will help you unlock this door ,and it will ,also, lead you to a secret tech sheet hidden inside the lower panel. This sheet will help you in the future with unpublished trouble codes and solutions as well. First, you must unplug the machine.

Next, remove the lower front kick panel. You will need a star-head driver (six points), which you can get at your Sears store. It requires a fairly small unit. I used an interchangeable handle with swappable parts to match the right size head.

The three star-head screws are located along the bottom of the kick panel. If the washer is sitting on the optional pedestal, be sure to pull the drawer out before proceeding. Then unscrew each of the screws and place in a plastic bag to avoid losing them.

The front panel is now attached by pressure to the rest of the washer. Take a crowbar or any slim tool to pry open the panle. Cover the end with a thin paper towel to avoid scratching the paint on the washer, insert the thin end low in the gap between the washer and the panel, and gently twist until the side pops off. Do both sides.

Once the panel has been removed, look to the right on the side of the inner wall of the washer. There you will find the lost manual pages intended to help the tech interpret error code and fix conditions. It also contains instructions on how to (((UNLOCK THE DOOR))). Take the manual pages out from behind the plastic envelope (they are taped and sealed, be careful not to tear them) and put them with the rest of the user manual, where they belong.

You can now see the inside of the washer. Look up in the inside where the latch for the door closes. You will see a small plastic black box. Pull the bottom end straight down. Then, open the door.

Washer spins while washing, it will also drain with no issue but will not do the final spin? help!

Any error codes? Try putting it in diagnostic mode. You can test different cycles and retrieve error codes. Instructions should be taped in an envelope to the inside of machine. You may have to remove the bottom front cover to find them.
Most likely cause - Faulty door switch.

Look for the technical brochure. Mine was on the lower kick panel taped inside. I would not take off the back panel first. Maybe the top or the lower front if it is a front loader. It tells you how to do diagnostics and what the codes mean.

GLTF2940 My washer goes through all cycles but won't spin

I had the same problem with my washer. Frigidaire model GLTF2940ES1. It's a front load. Now I'm not the type to stare at it and then call the repair man, I hate spending more money on something when it already costs an arm and a leg just to buy one. So I started digging around, I pulled the thing apart and looked at this and that. It would go through the cycles just fine, except it wouldn't do the fast spin. So, while pulling panels off, I noticed an envelope taped to the inside of the washer. It was the "Washer Tech Data Sheet" and in it, it will tell you how to get the error code from your washer and then basically tell you whats wrong with it. On models with an LCD display, you push any button to "wake" your machine up,then you push START and PAUSE/CANCEL simultaneously, and after a few seconds an error code will display. Mine was E47. With E47, your board thinks the door PTC circuit is open during spin. It then says to Remove door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTO. This I don't know how to do, and I don't know (yet) what PTO stands for. But, this all boils down to your door lock assembly. For the "corrections" part it says to do the following...first, replace the door lock assembly, you can do this yourself, but you have to take off the top panel of the washer. Then, look down and you can see it, it has 3 wires, disconnect them and pull it out. Buy a new one, and put it in. really easy. BUT, if this doesn't fix your problem them chances are its a defective control board. And that, I don't know how to fix. (yet).

I don't remember what an f-du code stands for, but I will give you the next best thing. There is a list of the error codes and steps to correct the problem right inside your machine.

Remove the lower front panel. (there are 3 #20 torx screws on the bottom of it holding it on). Once you remove the panel, turn it over. There in a sealed plastic envelope will be your technical manual and trouble shooting steps to correct them.

Good luck and drop me a note if there's anything else you need.
