There is only one lamp in this model set. You can tell when its worn when the unit intermittently shuts down while watching or the picture is not as bright as it used to be. The lamp compartment is usually located on the right side of the unit, there you will see a small compartment door access. Remove the screws and the Lamp will be visible, you might see two screws on both sides of the lamp or a handle to just gently pull the lamp out.

Hi i have a sony lcd projection kdf-e50a12u and as i turn it on the green light flashes for a few minutes untill it turns to red along with the light next to it and stays red?

Sir check the lamp of your projection if already damage, if damage replace the lamp and reset also the lamp hour meter. Remove the screws to open the panel labeled "lamp" on the back of the Sony TV. Remove the screws that hold the lamp in place inside the TV. Pull the lamp out. Let me know what is your observation to the lamp so I can guide you. Good day and best regards.

I have a Sony KDF-60XS955 tv. It won't power on,

I have that manual. There are three lights to the left of the power button. One is labled LAMP. The manual states "The projection lamp, which illuminates the picture, has a limited life. If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the LCD projector TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp with a new one (not supplied). Use a Sony XL-2200 replacement lamp (not supplied) for replacement. Use of any other lamp may damage the LCD projection TV." I also found in a different page " LAMP LED lights up in red when the lamp for the light source has burnt out." I guess burnt out would be extream. I found one other if you had opened the light bulb cover and didn't close it properly. " If the lamp cover is not reattached securely, the self-diagnostic function may be triggered and the POWER/STANDBY indicator flashes three times." You can down the sony manual at http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDF60XS955.pdf

My sony lcd tv turns off and the red light blinks 5 times

It sounds like the lamp on your tv is bad, remove the lamp from your tv and inspect it for damage.

I am trying to figure out how to replace my replacement lamp, but do not know where it is located.

Hi,

Lamp Access door for Sony KF50WE610 is below the screen on the front of the TV. This page shows location of Lamp access door and DIY bulb change instructions for most SONY LCD TVs:

DIY Bulb Installation Guide

XL-2000 XL-2100 XL-2200

XL-2400 XL-2500 XL-5000

XL-5100 XL-5200 XL-5300

This page shows Lamps and bulbs for all Sony LCD Projection TVs

Sony Lamp Gallery

Look at Optical Engine Faults before buying a lamp or bulb. Replacement bulb will not repair these problems.

It overheats and pops the Xl-2100u lamp?

by pops? do you mean it explode? how many lamps? it could be the fan that supposed to be ventilating the lamp or it could be the the ballast, why the ballast because the ballast regulates the voltage in order the keep the lamp on, for ignition it sends around 15,000 volts after that it regulates the votage to a small amount of voltage around 5,000 so it could be sending the big amount of voltage all the time never regulates that or it could be regulating and then sending another big amount of voltage over and over until the lamp doesnt handle those changes.

I replaced the lamp. now I have discoloration, Red on top and blue on the bottom

Your TV is an LCD rear projection type which requires a Mercury Vapor lamp. Mercury Vapor lamps emit UV light which is damaging to many materials. The discoloration you are seeing on the screen is the UV damage that has resulted over time to the LCD panels within the “Optical Block” (aka projector) of the TV. This discoloration has been creeping up on you for sometime, it just wasn’t as noticeable until you changed the lamp. Once you installed the new lamp, the UV light is bad at full force and the damage progresses at a quicker pace, due to the already weakened state of the LCD panels. Additionally, the picture is now brighter, exposing the damage for you to clearly see. The only fix for this problem is to replaced the Optical Block… an expensive repair. Although this is not good news, I hope this helps you understand the cause & solution and was of some assistance.

I need the procedure for changing my projection lamp for a Sony KDS50A2000

Find your user manual, both the lamp model and the procedure are in there. If you lost the manual, go to sony.com and download the manual. Most Sony LCD projector TV has the lamp on the back, held by one or two screws. It is important to order the right lamp before you opening it up. Do not ever touch the lamp directly as you will damage it.

SONY WEGA KDF-50WE655

Did you replace your lamp with a generic lamp? Many generic lamps do not produce as much light as OEM lamps do. Also, you may have a separate issue causing the picture to appear less clear than before. Check my solutions to other Sony LCD owners who have had problems with their optical blocks( light engines)

Sony Bravia LCD T.V.

It is most likely a fan (there are 2 to 3 of them in the set) that is making the noise. I doubt seriously that the lamp is causing a buzzing noise. The only other buzzing sound can come from the ballast wich powers the lamp.
