Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer
I have a HE2 dryer by kenmore, there is power to the unit it lights up. the other night I did a ton of laundry, when i took the last load out I noticed that the light burnt out. Today I went to put a load of laundry in and turned it on then it wouldnt start, it only beeps three times, powers up and all. I tried unplugging it and repluging it in and flipped and checked the breaker. Could it not work because of the light? that sounds like it wouldnt be that but ive seen some crazeier things. any help would be appreciated we dont have the money to call a repair man and were out of warrently of course. Had I known other people had problems with his dryer I would have never bought it...
What happens is that the door switch gets turned inside. I just took mine apart because of the same problems listed. The switch has a tab inside that has to make contact with the internal switch. I pulled mine apart and turned it so it made contact...put it back together and it works fine now. After doing all that it seems like you could turn the swith from the outside a quarter turn with a pair of pliers and accomplish the same thing.

My Kenmore He2 gas dryer has the same problem. It makes 3 beeps and wont start. The check lint screen light also doesn't come on. However, the door switch seems to function normally to turn on and off the inside appliance light when the door is opened and closed. Is it likely that this is still a problem with the door switch?? I may just end up buying a new switch to see if it solves the problem. Peter

After reading other problems on this board, it seems that the door closure switch is a common failure point. The common theme is the dryer interior light burning out. The door switch fails, so the light stays on, and burns out. Then you try to do a load and the dryer will not start due to the switch not making contact.
Ours just started doing the same thing, and I am betting this is the culprit...
It could be an intermittent problem too.

Three beeps from the Kenmore Elite electric dryer may be caused by a failed thermister which sends the heated air temperature signal to the control box. The thermister inserts into on the air duct under the drum near the front of the machine. (two screws and two wires)It is easily removed and tested using an ohmmeter and hair dryer. The resistance of the device changes as it is heated and cools. With my dryer the the dryer would run for awhile and than stop and signal three beeps.

You can also see if the door is not completly closing. Make sure to push it in hard around the clasp areas. If yours has a light, the light should turn off and on as you open and close the door.
