Question about HP Scanjet 5200c Flatbed Scanner
Have HP5200C scanner and a dell vostro400 with Vista(32bit)
When I attempt to install software from CD .... it loads and
than asked me to hook-up parallel cable. I have both usb and
parallel cables ... but my vostro only has usb ports. If I use the
usb cable ..... the installation is not completed and the scanner
is unuseable. Do I have a solution....or do I buy a new scanner?
Try this: There is a newer driver on the HP site...Sj662dn...for windows xp, sp2, download it and run it. It will take you through setup again...this time installing the drivers for your usb cable. Make sure you set your compatibiliy at windows xp sp2.
Problem is...this may not help getting your scanner to work. Mine's driving me nuts.

Add a pci parallel card such as this to your vostro. www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=512
This will enable you to connect your scanner. Tiger direct will give you closeups of the connections on the interface card so you can check you have the right one.
