TV turns on and off automatically by it self every few minutes

This is very common in Samsung DLPs. The DMD board may be going bad or it could be one of the fans that cool the engine while it is running is going bad (even though the fan looks like it is running, it is not running fast enough to cool the engine). Just before it shuts down your picture should read at the bottom of your screen which fan is bad. But I have found that does not alway happen.

Had the same problem - though was turning offf less often.
Opened up and sucked out all the dust & dirt I could. Also removed lamp & fan and did the same.
Its been perfect ever since.

I suspect that you may need to replace the ballast for the lamp and the power supply board.

I have a Samsung DLP 50 inch tv, model #HLP5063wx xaa. A friend gave me the tv, and told me it wasn't working, probably needed a new lamp. When I try to power on the tv, it comes on but makes a terrible...


the lamp led will light when the color wheel is defective. If the noise you hear is a buzzing or screeching the color wheel is the most likely cause.

Samsung shuts off automatically


Check air vents around cabinet. Suggests over heating and shutting down due to thermal switch. Clean vents and fan inlet

Sounds like your lamp may have gone bad you can unplug tv and inspect lamp. This link will be a guide on how to do that..

Humming noise from tv


Yes a humming noise on that model is usually related to the color wheel It will get progressively louder
