I have an inside contact with the leading digital camera mfr - and NO it's not Sony, as I buy NOTHING with that name on it because of their POOR Customer Srv Dept rapport. Sony is all but TOO proprietary with everything they make. You buy their products - you have no choice but to have them service it is how it pretty much works out. Not only that - you have to pay up front a SERVICE FEE just for them to TOUCH it. Just the way they are!

I will check on MON with my contact if getting a full service repair manual is even possibly with them. If it is I know for fact it will be expensive no doubt.

I almost hate to say it but I don't think one is going to be available to an end user DIY like you possibly are. A camera service center YES. Comes from my prior career days working inside a major hospital as a BMET repair Tech. Medical equipment was very complex and the service manuals for said equipment had to be the same as to detail & calibration of whatever we worked on.

I will post my results on MON.

If you have the camera mfr name and model # it would help out.

Regards,

Frank

- A MONDAY followup:

Just as I thought - you are not going to be able to purchase a factory repair/service manual for your camera (brand name still unknown).

I contacted my inside source at my camera's Corp offices and spoke to the Tech support service dept VP of operations there, and just as I suspected in my initial post reply - a full on service manual is not available to the public end user. To a factory repair facility or to an authorized repair center YES. So that was the end of that subject, as related to customer warranty and mfr LIABILITY issues.

Your only option at this point is to take the camera into a proper camera service/repair center, or else the mfr's factory service center itself.

Check in your owners manual for repair/service centers near your city in which you live.

Trying to fix any camera without proper training or proper repair tools will only destroy the camera worse.

I once tore apart 2 older broken Olympus C-2500 & C-3030 digital cameras and it was NO small task let me tell you.

At one point on the trashed C-2500 I just decided the time I was wasting just to open up the camera for damage inspection wasn't worth it.

I'm very good at opening and closing stuff - if for no other reason only for the purpose of looking inside for whatever reason.

Cameras are like fine watches and need to be repaired by factory trained experts - which I am not. There are limits to what anyone can do fixing stuff, and I know better when to take my cameras into the repair shop/facility.

I hope these guidelines help you make a wise decision.

Best regards,

Frank
